I fucking love Stargate.

Best series/seasons:
Early SG-1>Early Atlantis>Late SG-1>Late Atlantis>The fucking cartoon>>>>>>>Universe

Best character:
Urgo

Best Main Character: O'Neill

15 year old me would say McKay, but that was only because I had a raging crush on him.

The later seasons of SG-1 didn't have any/enough of O'Neill, which really fucked my enjoyment of them.
>>
Teal'C really gets me in the feels but I gotta hand it to O'Neil for being such an intresting character for so long. So I guess its between them for me.

The best episode for me was the one where Teal'c and o'neil get stuck in the time loop

>In May 2014, MGM announced a re-imagined version of the original 1994 film to be produced as a trilogy with Warner Bros. Pictures. Emmerich will direct and Devlin will produce. This set of two sequel films to the original Stargate starring Kurt Russell and James Spader will take a dramatically different course than the SG-1 and Atlantis universe created in the following 15 years.[45]On November 17, 2016, Devlin told Empire Online that the plans to make a reboot a potential new series are stalled.[21]

SGU was shit because it was the beginning of the end for all things traditional. The leftie cunts wanted to show their true selves. It was Marvel comics, the content went pro left and the marginalist who wanted politics to stay out, stopped watching. SGU was hated before it even began. SGA's sirens was when the leftie producers got butt hurt. They wanted a dyke kellar mix, but the test audience hated that shit, and rightly so. So they decided to cancel SGA. I was there, we raged and raged. They tried to legitimize it and said we'd consume it regardless of the shit they shoveled our way. They lost.

I don't fully understand all the hate for SGU. like, i get that it didn't have the same formula of the other stargate shows, which would turn some people off(i was initially a bit bummed as well), and i get that it overall wasn't as good as the other shows. HOWEVER - if you just judge it as a stand alone sci fi show it is easily above average, i would say even good. And many shows take 1 or 2 seasons to find their footing and get good. I believe SGU falls into that category though we will never know since the faggots in charge cancelled it. I love stargate so much i would happily watch a steaming pile of shit stargate show, so when what in my opinion was a decent show in SGU got canned i was super pissed.

Did SGU live up to stargate? not really. Was it still a pretty decent and interesting show? absolutely in my opinion. So i don't get why people hate it so much. Name 10 sci fi shows in the last decade that were better. It's not easy, because there aren't many. I'm always happy to get decent sci fi. The expanse is the only one we have right now, seems unfair since all the other genres get so much, and i thought "nerd culture" was supposed to be mainsteam now, you would think that would get us more good sci fi shit

SG1/SGA fags hate SGU because instead of using same formula it tried something different. It wanted to be darker and more sophisticated instead the happy go-lucky campy shit of the other shows.

Also, the inclusion of relationship drama triggered them because they're autistic virgins.

>since the faggots in charge cancelled it
You can blame the SG1/SGA fags for this too. They campaigned against SGU since day one and encouraged others to boycott it because they believed that getting SGU canceled would somehow bring back SGA.

Guess what faggots? All you accomplished was getting SGU canceled, convincing MGM that interest in Stargate was gone thus canceling the SG1/SGA movies that were in development. Congratulations, you killed the franchise. Enjoy the inevitable shitty standalone movie reboot in 20 years.
>>
>>82678407
Gays and their shit were never accepted in traditional programming. Families watched SG1 and SGA, it was the thing to do as a family. Shoe Horning fags into that threatened their values. Families never sat around and watched BSG, it didn't happen. It was two separate audiences. They were pissed that people did not like Sirens. They were pissed they received backlash. It was around the time BSG audiences, who were closer to SGA audiences, wasn't into that dyke shit they wanted to show in BSG, you know the six model dykes out with Cain. NO one wanted that shit. So Syfy and the cast of BSG decided to to a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT demanding tolerance. Fuck them and their unnatural shit. So we're about to watch Razor or whatever, and all the actors comes on about the fucking plight of 4% of the population. Even though dykes account for all abusers against dyke women at a near 28% of all abusers against women even though dykes makes up no more than 2% of the population. But apparently, us not wanting gay fags in our entertainment hurts fags or whatever.

But Yeah, SGA leftie producers wanted fags, people said fuck off, they got mad and canceled it and kept changing their story. First they wanted Beverly Hills 90210 in space and then they wanted, a more serious stargate about real world issues and the plights of minorities, and finally they wanted a more BSG, Stargate. Of course we raged and syfy banned our accounts. Some people started an SGU sucks page before SGU even completed principle Photography.
First episode had, 2 million viewers. Within weeks it was 1.4 million. Whereas season 5 of SGA had on average, 2.3 million viewers. And insult to injury was SGU costing more.

Fuck 'em.
>>
>>82679111
Bullshit, they canceled it because the ratings was balls. It went from 2 million to almost half that. No one cared about dykes and dramedy. Fuck that shit.

Funniest shit ever was when fans, who wanted a season 11 of SG1, Petitioned All involved but scifi got tired of paying two million per episode and decided to pay for Pain killer Dyke and Fag Gordon. Both shows were shit and no one watched. SuckFu lost millions, tens of millions of potential revenue SG1 easily gave them. So when the producers wanted to Cancel SGA as punishment for fans rejecting their faggy, Sirens, Suckfu had learned their lesson and were all like, ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS?
>>
>>82678701
>"nerd culture" was supposed to be mainsteam now

Except nerd culture is marvel shit. It isn't really surprising since for the mainstream, it has to be digestible and sci-fi requires a sliver of brainmatter to get (even Stargate).

I hated Season 9 but liked her. I liked her a lot. She was extra ordinarily good in Season 10. As was Ben. I liked them both. Season ten was nice, really good. It wasn't as edgy as earlier seasons, like seven when Daniel and Jack was literally at each other's throats. Daniel was more mellow in Ten. And I loved threads and I loved him and Jack in that. It was just, comfy. Ten was comfy. Ten was so comfy. SGA had some good episodes like that. I miss that that era of programming. Those days, and shows as traditional and innocent as they were, are gone forever. For we are now in the time of wolves who demand that we consume their filth, and swill heartedly their progressive vomit. I hate them all.

just make new SG-1 episodes, but in that visual style. you don't have to change the tone at all, it's already cheesy and humorous, violence is usually light, and you have the benefit that you can actually show epic vistas like in the movie and don't have to rely on the damn canadian forest all the time

First four seasons were great. I didn't like the direction of Season 5 and the Anubis arc was stupid. First three seasons of SGA are decent but don't add anything really; they should've waited years before doing it.

It would've worked better if they had done another two seasons working off the Goa'uld arc. Then did a spin-off that focused less on the Stargate and more on Earth's tiny fleet a little Star Trek-y, a little Battlestar Galactica-ish.

not really

It kept a lot of the "planet of the week" style exploration, etc from the original and continued a great tradition.

Universe was a shitty relationship drama set in the Stargate Universe. It was younger, edgier and shittier than the other two. The fact that the episode 200 (>>82685254) parodied it so accurately (young and edgy with lots of relationshit drama!!!) should have been the first indication of failure, as >>82685341 said.

Remember when they were going to make that third SG-1 movie "Revolution", where the general population of earth finally leans about the Stargate?

Really unlikely but not impossible.

Seasons 1-3 were shot on 16mm film and 4-8 on 35mm but supposedly that film still exists somewhere.
The real problem is the special effects are all digital and would have to be redone completely.

Ballpark estimates are approx. $750k to $1m per episode in order to bring them into full HD and I really can't see MGM justifying that

I noped out of SGA sometime before the end of S2. For some reason it really seemed like a campier rehash of SG-1, to me anyway. It was only a few years ago that someone in one of these threads actually convinced me to go back and finish it and I have to admit that S4 and S5 were really great. Almost all of my favorite SGA episodes are from those 2 seasons alone. The only thing I can really fault the show for is nowadays is that they never really figured out what kind of arcs they wanted to give the main characters besides McKay.

honestly you really can't compare the 2 shows. for one, they are so different that they are practically different genres. and second SU only got 2 seasons, you can't really judge a run that short against a show like SA that got to run pretty much a full course. I got more enjoyment out of atlantis but i think there's a really good chance if universe got 4 or more seasons i would have enjoyed it even more. But who knows, they were getting into some weird shit in season 2, not really sure where they were going with it, but i would have liked to have found out.

Everything with the Ancients' timeline is wonky. They supposedly peaked millions of years ago but they were around long enough to affect human civilization as little as a thousand years ago, while at the same time leaving little to no evidence of their existence in the galaxy at large or even on Earth, beyond some stories about Merlin.

Suffice it to say it had something to do with the Wraith's numbers and a plague wiping out ancients around the same time.

I think Atlantis itself was just part of an expeditionary/colonization force though. I don't think the Ancients were there colonizing alongside the Wraith evolving. So the Wraith probably had time to grow in numbers.

They definitely would've seeded the galaxy with Stargates millions of years ago since it was the first galaxy Destiny hit. Then they actually established a proper gate network at some point, but tons of planets were still un-terraformed or unexplored, since there were so many space-gates. (Though I'm not sure if it actually was implied that the space-gates were just "placeholder" gates or I'm just misremembering that.) BUT, if I recall, the Dakara device that seeded life in the Milky Way worked by way of the galaxy wide gate network, so fuck, I guess they should've been there colonizing alongside the Wraith evolving. That probably is a fucking plot hole. Like I said earlier, the whole Ancient timeline is wonky.

>I think they actually should have done that reveal a lot sooner. Like in season 6 or 7 of the tv series. The battle over Antarctica would have been a good point.
>For some reason a lot of fans seemed opposed to it though.

I think there was the sense that the series would drastically change and become more generic Sci fi if the modern day Earth bit was lost. If Earth became a mobilized, space faring power then it would just have to more to Star Trek level star maps and stuff; also the small SG teams and everything were obviously for budget and plot purposes. How many times would they have wrecked shit with just a platoon of soldiers?

But it already drastically changed after that Antarctica episode. Earth is the most powerful, etc. And it may have been better to just have disclosed in the plot. It could've worked, I actually really liked the political plots in the first two seasons or whatever. They brought a realism to the series that was totally gone later on

Stargate Universe is (or I should say could have been) the best Sci Fi ever. Its like what Star Trek would be if it was made for adults. The writing was really unprepared and they didnt take full advantage of it with any overarching storyline. So it just sort of fizzled out with a bunch of weak episodes interspersed with some good episodes.

SG-1 is like "The Key Stone Cops in Space", which can be cute how ONeil is like the dopey-disinterested-McGyver-ready-for-retirement. But I cant see how anyone would watch for anything other than comedic value.

Atlantis is just like another low budget Star Trek knockoff. They never take advantage of the special effects of being a giant space ship in the sea and you end up with just really dumb 60s era scene backdrops.

show me one, literally fucking one, high budget ST episode. One Atlantis episode was worth more than the whole ST season

Why? Every character sucked. I didn't get the point of it or where it was headed and it seemed totally unnecessary.

this guy answers your question, no use me repeating:

>SG1/SGA fags hate SGU because instead of using same formula it tried something different. It wanted to be darker and more sophisticated instead the happy go-lucky campy shit of the other shows.
>Also, the inclusion of relationship drama triggered them because they're autistic virgins.
