Well, in my opinion this movie connected a few things on the previous movie. The Engineer that they met in Prometheus tried to eradicate them because he found out that the humans made another sentient being which can practically live forever. Making a creation that can be immortal will just lead to the immortal overthrowing their creator. From the look of the Engineer's homeland and their technology, they have not made anything like David, an AI or a sentient being.

There was a fifteen minute preview that was put up a few days ago. We've been watching that. It cuts out a lot of stuff but it was juicy enough for people to form their opinions.
