Something, something Raimi get away with this?
Because he was the basis of Al Bundy, successful man who got tied down by an overbearing wife
>>82651509
overbearing red-headed, non-working, overactive libido having, tacky clothes wearing wife

That's the natural state of man, friendo

Because he was what used to be normal in the 70s, and gays were considered to be mentally ill , and dangerous to our society.
Times change, and the roles have been swapped to the point where under our current new world view (created in part by the Media) Mr. Roper is now viewed as the bad guy or as you call him "HOMOPHOBIC"

He was the bad guy then, too. Have you even seen the show?
he wasn't tho, he was very accepting. If anything, Jack acting like a walking stereotype around him was homophobic.

He was a minor antagonistic force, but he wasn't so because he was homophobic. He was uncomfortable around Jack but was still willing to rent to him but ironically wouldn't have been willing to do so had he believed him straight.
