I hate to say it but Ridely Scott is kind of overrated.

Somehow he was great for Alien and Blade Runner but really what else has he done that's so good?

Whereas people shit on James Cameron but he similarly started out really great, and his early sci fi movies I'd put up there with any of the other greats.

It's weird how we've come to canonize Scott and Carpenter (despite their later crap) but not Cameron, probably because of the over-the-top shitness of Titanic and Avatar.

Ridley Scott is a good director he's just not a script guy. His classics come when he has the right script but he doesn't seem too discerning about them.
