The idea of gods and shit is pretty cool and they've got some great actors involved

Having read the book, I think in many ways the opening of the show is stronger than the opening of the book.

Style over substance and too disjointed. Though it has good individual scenes like the Anansi scene, though it was odd that Anansi had a American accent and talked like one too.

Funny story about this scene. I was waiting in line to get coffee before work a few years ago. I was listening to the (very good) audio book version of American Gods. The headphone port on my phone constantly cut out and didn't work properly if I didn't hold it in the right spot, and sometimes, the audio would keep playing ouit loud even if I pulled out the headphone cable.
As my coffee was ready I pulled out the cable, and the audio didn't stop, just in time for everyone in the coffee shop to hear the lines (I'm paraphrasing from memory) "He came multiple times, sucked a cock, ect,ect"

Everyone in the place was looking at me. I just said "It.. It's a good book..." grabbed my coffee and left.
