It was good in some ways, but really dropped the ball in terms of making the tapes/Hannah seem noble and meaningful rather than incredibly fucked up and narcissistic.

The way Tyler and Alex's storylines were heading towards the end also indicated to me that Season 2 is going to jump the shark massively and turn this into basically a more serious teenage-trauma-porn show like Degrassi. Pretty concerned.

The actual suicide scene was brutal, but the entire tapes arc and especially everyone ~admitting responsibility~ at the end is practically the fantasy of suicidal people. That everyone is going to come together and remember you and realize how wrong they were to hurt you and not appreciate you.

It's an indulgent romanticization of "living on after you die" through your suicide.

Perhaps you should think about why people have a different opinion than you instead of just getting defensive and calling people retarded. I don't think the show "promotes suicide" per se, but I do think it handled the reality of the fallout from Hannah's tapes really poorly and made them seem much more romantic than they are.

Things start to get way better on episode 4 with based Tyler. First 3 episodes are just whiny bullshit.
