there really is no point in adapting Metal Gear since

1) all jokes aside it is pretty much already a movie series/long running tv show, you can literally just watch the cutscenes on youtube if you just want to see the story

2) what makes the series special is how it uses it's gameplay to convey it's themes, there is no cinema version of changing your controller port to beat mantis or having your psyche meter go down the more people you aggress against

The people at Hollywood have a process of making videogame movies:

>Announce the videogame movie and wait for the criticism
>Listen to the criticism and respond to it directly, reassure all the people that "It will be good this time" and that the actors are all """huge fans""" of the source material
>Point out just how much they related stuff to the source material and how much effort they put in
>Hype the shit out of the movie
>Release trailers that look like shit but are too ambiguous to represent the whole film
>Film comes out, it's fucking garbage and you fell for it

They've done it TWICE with the Hitman series, and how the fuck do you fuck up a Hitman movie? There's a lot of things in Hitman that you could make a movie out of.

You really think they'd make a good Metal Gear Solid movie? You really think they'd have any idea what the hell Metal Gear Solid is? They clearly didn't know what Hitman is.

The tapes in the end SOOOOOORT OF gave us that. It pretty much implied everyone was trying to save the world, but in their own fucked up way and every was on one side or another while trying to make things work.
