it's about an illogical event that happened and how that event pushes people to emotional distress, the first season is just this, but the rest adds the faith struggles into the mix and puts the viewer into the mix, you end up as confused as the people in the show not knowing what is real and what is not.

I am watching it. This must be the most polarizing fuckin series ever. I literally think it's absolutely brilliant, whilst the people I recommended it to all think it's boring and crap.

Holy wayne was a great character. A charlatan who wasn't quite sure of his own legitimacy. Its bog standard stuff, but, how it was laid into the stages of grief stuff the first season (and book) were built around was legitimately compelling.

He sets up a toll booth at bargaining and thinks he can hug it out with people. The placebo effect lingers for just long enough for the hugged to feel good about dropping their life savings on him and his administration of the placebo effect makes him think hes got some legitimate power. Its basically the shit that every practitioner of alternative medicine (who doesn't know they're glorified con artists) live on to keep taking people's money for doing nothing. The fact laurie's kid ends up in his influence, because of the familiarity, after rejecting laurie is also a pretty good connection.

Then lindelof wiped his ass all over all of that in season 2, like a dog dragging it's ass across a moderately expensive tapestry.

That final scene was pure kino.
