Does Chuck's mental condition makes a difference? Jimmy confessed to a felony all the same.
>>
>>82592026
Chuck is an unrelenting abusive asshole, who has very few qualm with exploiting others. I'm inclined to think that he deserves what he gets at this point.
>>
>>82592097
>Jimmy confessed to a felony all the same.

Did you watch the episode? Because now he's saying that he lied in his confession to calm Chuck's obvious mental illness. That was the whole point of the episode.
>>
>>82592097
It wouldnt if he didnt sperg out in the chair and make it clear that he has a personal long term vendetta against Jimmy.

Makes the impression that he was setting Jimmy up rather than responding to an isolated act of crime.
>>
>>82592097
Did you even watch it?
He tried to play off that confession as a lie said to make his brother regain sanity, then Chuck slid the fuck away from reason, making it a possibility that he just fucked up the addresses and blamed Jimmy in some hysteric schizoid episode.
>>
>>82592097
Didn't you listen at all to what Jimmy said? He confessed that the tape is really him saying that, but his argument is that Chuck is insane and he only said it to make him feel better. Meanwhile Chuck's case is that he played up his mental health issues to get a confession out of Jimmy. Chuck proving that he's both completely mental AND has a clear grudge against his brother helps Jimmy's case tremendously.

Chuck could not handle that sort of business. He would notice an off-kilter stamp and dress up in his tinfoil suit and bicycle to the post office in the night because the sun has too much electricity and call the postmaster general and say there is an emergency and he has to be let in immediately and when the grumpy postman appeared to let him he would start complaining about the crooked stamp but then notice something wrong with how they sort mail and wind up giving him a lecture about Silence Dogood. >>82593268
He'd be convicted for manslaughter in that case.
>>
>>82592097
No, you're right. Just because we all know that Chuck faked his condition and did something horrible to Jimmy, doesn't mean either of those are borne out of hysteria or rage or any other issues.

The commission would probably now at least need to consider what's more likely (if not beyond reasonable doubt); meticulous Chuck who fooled (almost) everybody making a mistake with the Mesa Verde papers, or Jimmy doing something devious (i.e. forgery) to get something to his advantage. Given what everyone's just seen in court, the latter is far more salient to everyone's mind, because Jimmy's done just that once again with the battery in cross-examining his brother.

I hope the court rules accordingly and drives Jimmy to change his identity because I'm still sort of yearning for an 'adventures of Saul Goodman' series that I expected before season 1 began.

>>82592166
This. I thought it would've taken Chuck much more than that to sperg out in public given what's happened thus far.
>>
>>82593342
Manslaughter requires either gross negligence or an illegal act. Jimmy, and any reasonable person, would think giving a battery to Chuck would be harmless.

And for all those who don't know, when someone is having a mental episode, such as a psychotic break or severe schizophrenic episode, etc., it is advisable to go along with it and agree with them until they calm down. Trying to convince them that they are just imagining things usually only makes this worse and they can be dangerous to others and themselves. Any mental health professional will tell you this. So what Jimmy said on the tape was actually advisable and could be argued as such. He was also his brothers guardian. Chuck really fucked himself by not having proof of the document forgery, introducing a tape that is not connected to any provable crime, and then spazzing out in the hearing, proving to the hearing board that he is mentally ill. He even admitted freely that his allergy to electricity is not even a medically accepted condition and he has never been diagnosed by any doctor. KEK. He is so fucked it's not even funny. Why do you think everyone in the room was face-palming?

The slow burn always makes the pay-off 10x more sweet.

Reminder that Howard tried to stop this if only Chucky had listened!
>>
>>82594255
it's as simple as holding the battery flat against the newspaper, then pressing the paper against his breast pocket and letting it slip down.
>>
>>82594443
Howard literally went from total asshole to best bro. Spinoff when?
>>
Howard is such a character. He almost feels unrealistic. It might be because I'm European.
>>
>>82594468
It was in the inner pocket, whatever it's called.
>>
>>82593357
I think without having his ex-wife there, he wouldn't have gone ballistic like he did. It was the stress of his ex-wife basically finding out he had a serious mental condition and not a physical one proven by the battery in his pocket. Jimmy basically proved Chuck is a fucking mental case and she made the right move, thus ending whatever chance Chuck thought they had of getting back together. So in Chuck's mind, Jimmy stole both of his parents from him, and now is getting rid of someone else he loves. Pretty genius episode to be honest famalam.

>>
>>82594443

Chuck is lawful evil.
Gus is neutral evil with his business, despite the revenge thing with Salamanca...
>>
>>82592872
Absolutely this. Chuck opened the door himself the instant he classified playing up the mental illness he's in denial about as "theater," allowing Jimmy to turn that around on him. Chuck admits to lying(the "theatrics") to squeeze an admission of wrong-doing out of Jimmy. Jimmy turned it right back around on him, claiming that he too was lying to placate is batshit crazy brother.

In effect, it turned it right back into a case of "your word against mine," and Jimmy pushed all the right buttons to get Chuck to give exactly the sort of Perry Mason witness stand confession that he'd scoffed at earlier in the proceedings. He looked irrational. He *was* irrational, and worst of all, it revealed that he really is harboring some deep-seated animosity against his own brother. Regardless of how justified it might be, it's all tainted by the fact that he's demonstrably insane.

It was fucking beautiful, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
>>
>>82592026
The way I see it, not everything legal is moral. Chuck is and has been such an oppressive fucking prick to Jimmy out of jealousy to some extent. To pull that shit he did just to spite Jimmy and in some way, Kim, for being Jimmy's BFF, Jimmy is morally not in the wrong in fucking with the documents in the first place, that's the true justice in this situation.

So, playing on Chuck's mental health, while snakey, is only fighting fire with fire after how shitty it truly was to use Jimmy's affection against him.

Chuck is sort of in the right, like, his heart seems to have always been in the right place, however he sees things a bit too black and white in my opinion.

>>
>>82595180
Who fucking cares.
>>
>>82594910
Chuck's problem is that he's a narcissistic, judgmental prick. I don't even have to see the back-history all laid out there to know that Chuck's been this cold fish his whole life, jealous of the fact that no matter how much "better" he thinks he is than Jimmy, people have always liked Jimmy better than him.

I absolutely know his wife left him because he was too clinging and needy. He was probably a jealous asshole in full-on passive/aggressive mode with her 90% of the time and she got fucking sick of it and bounced. Notice how that's when his "illness" started? That's because the source of most of the attention he demands vanished, and the respect and admiration he got just for being a kickass lawyer wasn't enough to fill that hole, so he unconsciously manufactures his bullshit "illness" as a way of making everyone always focus all their attention on him in very visible ways, all to feed that massive ego.

You're missing it, though - getting better psychologically is going to involve owning up to the role he's played in turning Jimmy into the kind of guy he's become, all his assholish snobbery, all his only allowing him to rise just so high because his ego demands that he always see himself as the "good" brother. all his sabotage - he'll have to look at all of it dead-on, and when he finally does, it'll be too late for him to do anything about any of it.

He'll try to finally reach out to him in actual brotherhood, and it will be way, way too late for that.

I'd argue that C_uck is lawful evil. He uses the law to be a complete and utter cunt to his brother out of no reason other than petty jealousy and spite. Going out of your way to ruin your brother's fucking life when he's done nothing but support and help you at your lowest point is pure evil.
>>

>>

Being a jealous cunt doesn't mean you're necessarily evil though. Chuck wanted to destroy Jimmy's law career but he went out of his way to make sure Jimmy wouldn't get a prison sentence.

>"it's boring and for people who don't work hard. Hard workers love fun shows you can enjoy."

Tell your roommate he's a fucking idiot. Working hard is not a good excuse for having shit taste. The only reason he can get away with having such garbage taste is that he's young and probably has a shit job.
>>
>>82598093
The irony of that side of him is that it's probably something that pushes his brother to become Saul (because he was kind of right with that monkey with a machinegun analogy). If he really cared about the law above all else then Chuck would have just let his brother work at HHM and kept him on a leash.
>>
>>82598093

He is not strictly lawful evil. He believes he is doing the right thing, not letting Jimmy using his law degree and knowledge to do harm. On the other hand he is also simply jealous of Jimmy who has it all easier due to his charisma, which Chuck himself lacks and has to achieve everything through hard work. In Chuck's mind Jimmy is getting an unfair advantage that way so for him bringing Jimmy down is only fair.

D&D alignment system is too simplistic for cases like this. Chuck is probably halfway between Lawful Neutral and Lawful Evil. Likewise, Jimmy himself is between Chaotic Good and Chaotic Neutral, and Breaking Bad era Saul is somewhere between Chaotic Neutral and Neutral Evil.

I don't think that he actually cares about Jimmy doing harm or "damaging muh law", he's just asshurt that Jimmy got a law degree because he feels like he doesn't deserve it and is jealous because he feels he worked harder for it. He's just a spiteful cunt who can't stand that despite Cuck being smarter and more successful, everyone has always liked Jimmy more.

Why did jimmy even need the battery placed on chuck? If it had been in the phone the effect would have been the same.

If it was in Jimmy's pocket Chuck could have been like "oh well it's far enough away the waves can't reach me" but since it was basically up against his chest it removes all doubt.
>>
>>82600194
Having the battery that near to him puts it beyond reasonable doubt that Chuck is faking it.
>>
>>82600194
The phone was in Jimmy's pocket, so its effects on Chuck would fluctuate depending on how close he is to Jimmy. By having the battery in Chuck's pocket, it shows that he should have been affected by it the whole time, which he wasn't. It's further proof that his illness is all in his head.
>>
>>82600194

>>
>>82600294
Yup. I said this a million times in a prior thread and had someone samefag about 50 times with some variant of kys fag.

But yes, on the one hand, it did show Chuck is mentally ill not sick, he's had a vendetta against Jimmy for a long time, and that he's always tried to sabotage his career as a lawyer.

But Jimmy and Kim don't realize that move totally sabotaged their own case. It shows that Jimmy is willing to use questionably (if not blatantly) illegal means to get things done which is *precisely* what the bar hearing is about.

Sure, the case is about whether he doctored another lawyer's legal papers, but if he's willing to do something that could debatably be considered battery (no pun intended), to discredit his brother, is doctoring legal documents really that implausible.

Jimmy will be disbarred.

This is likely the reason he has to practice law under a fake name. Of course that wouldn't really work in real life but tv is all about suspending disbelief.

They wouldn't get that lazy with the writing.

Likely futures:
Jimmy / Chuck reach legal or personal agreement not to share the same name, Jimmy is likely upset with it

Something devastating happens with Kim/Chuck/Both and Jimmy finally goes dead inside/stops trying to be virtuous

New plot line emerges with the cartel/Mike/Gus and forces Jimmy into the underworld

I'm not that dude, but I disagree highly.

I have had a real shit life that has beat me down in every possible way BUT rather than break it has forged me into steel.

I have a gargantuan ego. My whole life is very depressing in every possible way and though I contemplate suicide plenty I will never do it. Why? Because at the end of the day I consider *myself* as correct and the world in the wrong.

People without much ego tend to implode when everything goes belly up. People who have a huge ego tend to see the whole world as wrong and become a bitter misanthrope instead.

I'm pretty sure this is Chuck's trajectory. That and getting institutionalized.

Jimmy is disbarred and goes back to pulling cons and scams, but on a much bigger scale. Chuck begins to lose his mind entirely. Nacho sees Tuco as dangerously unstable and plots to remove him and take his spot as Hector's lieutenant.

>7
Jimmy, feeling responsible for Chuck losing his mind tries to make amends. Nacho plots with Chuck to assassinate Tuco.

>8
Jimmy gets involved in Tuco's assassination. Remember the line "It wasn't me, it was Ignacio" in breaking bad? Well he believed Walt and Jesse were hired by the cartel as revenge for this attempt.

>9
Jimmy works with Chuck on corrupt criminal enterprises. Thinks about going back at law under a new name with a new degree from University of Samoa and retaking the bar with his alter ego. Kim tries to go back to HHM who turn her down. Hamlin wishes for Chuck to get help to get his growing insanity under control. Chuck resents the notion that he doesn't have a "condition".

>10
Chuck is given an ultimatim by Hamlin. Get psychological counseling or get removed from the firm. Kimmy doesn't know what to do with her life now that her solo thing didn't work out (likely from Mesa Verde hearing about the battery stunt and Jimmy getting disbarred) and she couldn't return to HHM. Nacho attempts to assassinate Tuco which fails and Nacho gets killed instead.

>people still think Chuck's illness was at all relevant to the hearing

Jimmy LITERALLY SAID RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING his entire goal was to prove that Chuck hates him. He was not going to prove whether or not he actually had his illness. He was just showing that Chuck is clearly off-kilter and he felt that the only way to help him feel better was to feed into his hatred of him. Jimmy knows Chuck hates him, and what else would make Chuck feel better than affirming that hatred by admitting to committing a felony.

Jimmy's goal was to goad Chuck into his outburt, thereby proving that he's always been spiteful towards him and that he might do just about anything to get in his way, INCLUDING exaggerating his condition to get him to admit things he might not otherwise admit. Chuck's judgement when it comes to Jimmy has now been called into question, the committee now has to consider whether or not these hearings are legitimate or just a ploy by Chuck to get his brother disbarred.

Jimmy should stop practicing law and open a gym. Would be a much more interesting plot line and a viable reason to have the strip mall space. Could call it, "Better Call Swole"

Jimmy trying to look sad, but failing to hide his bigass smirk at the end was pretty funny desu.

>Can someone explain WHY people actually like Chuck?

Hamlin "likes" chuck because he know he is a bitch and can mess really bad with the firm

Jimmy "likes" chuck because blood bonds and maybe he feel guilty

LITERALLY every other person interacting with chuck is someone at his service and obviously "likes" him, this cunt has no interaction with someone equal or above him.

Would he even have a phone? Cell phone for extreme emergencies perhaps?

There's no reasonable way for Jimmy to get disbarred and continue practicing law in the exact same state with his face on billboards throughout the state. He won't be disbarred. I think he'll change his name to disassociate himself from Chuck.

>I think he'll change his name to disassociate himself from Chuck.

Or maybe in a final blow Chuck manages to force him change name supported by HHM

Can a guy fucks up this much? Why did he have to use such words? Of course it would have triggered Chuck. What the fuck was he doing. He just had to let Chuck regain his composure.

It's a major plot point that Chuck has little evidence to actually win a legal battle on the issue, and the entire reason the disbarment trial is going on is because he knows the judges and they are his friends/associates and are doing him a favor

Jimmy actually could win the argument just by saying that he lied for his brother without going into any more detail. But he wanted to make a show to convince Chuck, to stop him once and for all, to get him to and smit his hateful feelings, and to convince the judges who were pretty much siding with Chuck the whole time

This

Not many people caught it, but the whole gas lamp thing is actually a major point- Chuck's house is full of exposed wires, papers, and gas based camping equipment.

It's a fire hazard waiting to explode, kinda like Chuck. Bravo, Vince.

Fuck off Chuck!
>>
>>82600194

Jimmy knows that when he is questioned about his 'illness' he panics and freaks out

The whole trial is reliant on chuck anyway- the bar associates/judges were said to be his friends, so Jimmy really just has to convince everyone that he lied on the tape for Chuck's mental well-being, and that Chuck just has it out to get Jimmy
>>
>>82601557

Howard is a prideful asshole, but he actually cares about the firm and realizes that this whole show is a mess and will destroy it's reputation

He has to sit there and pit on an act for Chuck, when in reality he disagrees with Chuck and probably sides more with Jimmy

Remember that in season 1 the board was trying to buy out Chuck to get rid of him
