I'm just glad they are out of the Framework now, and the primary reason for that was I found the desaturated look they used for scenes taking place there to be dreadfully boring to look at. AoS is usually a very nice looking show, but those episodes were dull from a visual perspective. Especially compared to the magnificence of the LMD arc finale before it.

BUT I will say this, it's worth watching those early episodes for the sake of getting a sense of character, and these episodes are what they look back on as "The good old days". So it's worth watching but don't expect A+ grade material for a few eps.

You have to watch the first season in order to get the relationship between Daisy, Fitz, and Simmons. When Skye (Daisy) first shows up she is one of the geeks. She spends most of her time on the bus in lab with Fitz and Simmons. When she goes on field missions in season 1 it is played as a fish out of water.

When she becomes Agent Skye in season 2 it plants the beginning of the story arc where she becomes more distant from her friends and starts acting more like May. I think she kills for the first time in the early part of season 2.

Then she gets her super powers and she becomes even more withdrawn from the whole team and starts considering herself "other" as an inhuman instead of a Shield gent. She eventually comes back to her family in Shield after she realizes that's who she really is.

She runs off again at the end of season 3 but it's more a "time to clear my head" story about redemption. She comes back to Shield without much argument when the situation becomes clear that its time for her to stop fucking around and get over her mopey goth phase. At this point she's been mentioned as a candidate for the Director of Shield itself. She's pretty far removed from her time at the nerd table with Fitzsimmons (who have themselves gone through a lot of changes). When she finally reunites with Jemma it's a big character moment for the two women and how far they've come.

AoS is really about those three characters more than anything. It's a show about teenagers even though the characters are in their 20s. And Coulson and May are the mom and the dad. A lot of the fanbase really loves Ward because he is quite a magnificent bastard, but he's not actually that important to the central theme of the show. He's just the bad guy.

And TBF I liked season 1 a lot. The Episodic take is a bit cheesy, but it was like an MCU Xmen for the first season, and they had some of the more interesting plots already seeded back then, like dimensional ghosts.

He got sent there via some interdimensional tech, just like the darkhold ghosts. Or something, I don't remember that well.

There's also that balling ass villain that controls gravity which was forgotten. And the whole plot line with the centipede group giving away SHIELD as being controlled by HYDRA was seeded from the very beginning as well.
