I was in college so I was a pseudo-adult and I liked and hated it at the same time. The prequels were universally by my generation considered Lucas going into full merchandise mode, 90% of the movies written to sell video games and action figures with 10% actual thought put in to decent scenes, decent, not great. Overall horrible horrible acting. Overall bad movies. Didn't really add depth to the canon...but made it lame by removing mystery and replacing with crap. They basically let you know this mysterious and powerful Darth Vader we all saw in previous movies was just a whiny emo bitch easily emotionally manipulated and the Emperor was some bipolar pedophile out to get revenge on a galaxy full of women who rejected him. A jamaican retarded rabbit was the catalyst to the emperor gaining power and Japanese space corporation fish with robot fetishes were there looking to make spacebux. The only real takeaway from the movie is Natalie Portman needed my dick.

Saw the midnight showing on opening night, freshman year of college. I think most people here don't appreciate the disappointment as much because a lot of them were like 5 years old when TPM came out, so they didn't really have a connection to the OT. Growing up watching the OT over and over again for years and building up a new Star Wars movie for at least a year made the whole experience monumentally disappointing.

In the OT the jedi were an ancient and all but gone. Obi-wan says the jedi were around till Vader and the empire wiped them out. It makes sense to have lots more Jedi leading up to the ep4.

Watching behind the scenes clips of him "directing" its clear he just wanted to get it over with. It's why there's only like a year gap between II and III. He shat out scripts which he probably never proof read, then changed shit at the last moment.

Yoda and Palpatine lightsaber fight for less than a minute, which is perfectly fine. The majority of the fight is them doing Force stuff and talking. I can agree that they weren't too creative and could/should have done new things with the Force, but at the same time, Palpatine attacking Yoda with the Senate was pretty good stuff.

I like the fight between Yoda and Sheev, I like the dialogue, there is sheev, and I like the fight too, the senate scenario it's great...

But the Obi Wan vs Anakin, it's ok, I like the scenario too but the problem with this fight is that is too long and the moves are too fancy. Shorter and with more use of the force, dialogue, and moves not so fancy would have been better. Also the way Anakin was destroyed is autist. I would have done something more realistic than a hill and "I have the high ground".
