I don't see why Lynch would get Graham to lie about not being in it.

Gets people speculating. Every member of the cast and crew signed an NDA. The conditions probably varied. Even if she isn't in it, though, her character might end up being mentioned or shown somehow. My money's on either she or Donna were the victim of the 1991 attack.

I have a feeling it will be a lot like Fire Walk With Me actually. Lynch and Frost have written and directed every episode in the upcoming season. But yeah, it's fucking depressing how many normies claim to like Twin Peaks yet they refuse to watch any of Lynch's other stuff and they haven't even bothered to watch Fire Walk With Me.

It won't be like FWWM because it couldn't hold up for that long.
Part 1 of season 3 will be a 9-10 hour long movie exploring all of the after effects of the ending to series 2 while Part 2 will be when it begins to get really dark

Hell I reckon BOB hasnt even acted yet, waiting for his rival Coop to finally return
>>
>>82574252
>could you paraphrase what happens in s2?
Not really, you have to watch it for yourself. The main plot moves forward but quite slowly (finding the owl cave and the mysterious symbols of the black lodge etc). There are bits and pieces in there that are very important to understand the last episode. Then there are a bunch of wacky/goofy subplots which are bad but so bad they're good. It's an experience!
>>
>>82574319
Laura Palmer's evil twin.
>>
>>82574252
Bob is an evil entity possession people and resides in the Black Lodge, an interdimensional realm. Bob possessed Ray Wise and had him kill his daughter. When Cooper finds out Bob has Ray Wise kill himself to spite Cooper. Audrey get's caught in a bank explosion in the finale (but survived apparently) and season 2 ends with Bob possessing Cooper.

That's literally all you need to know.
>>

Yes the whole book is about that stuff basically, but going back to all the way to Lewis and Clark's expeditions to the north west. It's a lot about the green jade ring too (its different owners throughout history) You asked about stuff happening after 1989 so that's why I mentioned those people.

>Major Briggs?

I'm guessing alternative reality. That way, his is canon while also not being canon.

Probably not crucial to understand since it was written after the script was done and shooting had begun. However, it will probably work as a great tie-in and will maybe help to appreciating it more. All the stuff about the ring and its different owners througout history is entertaining.

Am I missing something?

I just finished season 1 never watched Twin Peaks before and, no, I'm not here to bait and trash it but I feel like I watched two really good episodes and 6 episodes of boring filler.
he first episode got me really interested to see what was going to happen, and aside from the awesome dream scene it just kept cutting back and forward to these characters who I couldn't muster any motivation to care about. I know the show is popular for a mix of surrealism, soap-opera style drama, and mystery, but the soap opera stuff dominated the runtime. Again, not trying to bait, but is watching James and Donna make out for the twentieth time what made this show so popular? Did I miss the point?

use this. go with god. Donna has a good subplot in the first half of the second season. when you're in the "bad episodes," you can skip James and Donna altogether. Just enjoy Coop, Audrey, and whoever else you've come to love.
>>

Well, in no particular order here are a few reasons its popular
surrealism in a small mountain town
kitschy characters and memorable lines
filmed in soap opera fashion (overactting lines, dramatic lookaways)
You dont have to like it, thats a choice.
>>
I'm going to be honest, it was hard to watch James sing with a family member. It's probably the cringiest part in the entire show.
>>
sign up with Showtime free trial or just pirate?

I remember there was one good scene during the really bad stretch of episodes. It was at the end of the Jean Renault story-line, when Coop is being held hostage by Reanult and he gives Dale a monologue about how he has changed Twin Peaks.

>Before you came here, Twin Peaks was a simple place. My brothers sold drugs to truck-drivers and teenagers. One-Eyed Jack's welcomed curious tourists and businessmen. Quiet people lived quiet lives. Then a pretty girl dies. And you arrive. Everything changes. My brother Bernard is shot and left to die in the woods. A grieving father smothers my surviving brother with a pillow. Arson, kidnapping. More death and destruction. Suddenly the quiet people here are no longer quiet. Their simple dreams have become a nightmare. Maybe you brought the nightmare with you. And maybe, it will die with you.

I remember re-watching the series a few years back and that scene seemed perfectly normal to me and kinda creepy in a way. Then I watched it by itself recently on YouTube with no context and that shit was extremely funny.

I guess it only works if you're watching the show all the way through.
>>
>>82574509
Why does this make you so mad? What difference does it make if you're a millenial who is a twin peaks fan and also a fan of lynch's other movies or just a millenial twin peaks fan?

I'll admit the people who JUST (within the last few weeks) started watching and haven't even seen the whole series yet act like they're long time fans are pretty annoying. But other than that what difference does it make?

It'll be hilarious if the show is full non non-stop Lynch madness and the people who only like "le quirky pie and coffee!" memes will stop watching after like 3 episodes.
>>

>>82575406
isn't it meant to be a collection of collated reports though?

it doesn't mean everything it says is true. it's just one person's perspective on the events. They can easily retcon some of what it says.

I liked Nadine's backstory. The Super Nadine subplot was all the more tragic for it.

Just dawned on me that time probably isn't relative in the black lodge because its interdimensional. Meaning the dream Laura had in FWWM was Coop from the future (stuck in the BL) telling her to not wear the ring, thus leaving Laura possessed by BOB and stopping the deaths that take place in the show.
>>
I really tried to dig this show, and I enjoyed most of the first season. But how stupid is it that the killer was just some spirit/ghost thing that controls people? I felt so underwhelmed by that reveal. It's not clever nor is it interesting.

And was it really just accepted by everyone that "Bob" was the killer? Wouldn't it have been infinitely more interesting if Leland hadn't died and had to face the consequences of his possession? Was he aware of what was going on? In FWWM he appears to be possessed the entire time but in the show he appears to be a normal guy with no idea he has an alternate personality.

But I gues that doesn't matter when we can follow biker dude james on his soap opera advenutre and laugh ant cooper drinking coffee and eating pie all day right guys?
>>
>>82579860
she doesn't wear the ring in order to not get possessed, but that doesn't stop any deaths in the show... because BOB is still inside Leland.
>>
>>82580075
oh, what does she wear the ring for then?
But I was meaning the deaths relative to the solving of the case, not necessarily the murders done by BOB.
>>
>>82580035
The only weak aspect of Bob was that they had to reveal he was the killer so early on. The original plan was to keep the mystery of Laura's death unsolved for the duration of the series and other shit would happen along the way to keep the series running.

Also, when Lynch came back for the finale he was clearly trying to bring the show back to it's core and made Laura, Leland and Bob all relevant to the plot again with the black lodge stuff.

Had season 3 happened in the 90s it would have been fucking amazing as Lynch was doing everything he could to save the show including going on Letterman to literally beg viewers to help save the show by writing to tv executives. Lynch would have kept the show in check from there on out. Or at least for season 3.

Which of course is finally happening now 27 years after the fact.

>tfw became obsessed with David Lynch after watching the Dune adaptation he wanted forever rejected from his canon but won't go away

Twin Peaks is great but still David Lynch at his absolute weakest. Was tailored for non cinema fans and non David Lynch fans when the series came out. Part of why so much of the show is ponderous sitcom and soap opera bullshit.
>>
>>82580233
Wouldn't it have been even worse if we had to wait the whole series just to find out it was some mystical spirit though? Maybe I'm the odd man out but that whole idea seems very uncreative to me.

I liked the first season becaue it was grounded in reality and all the weird shit Cooper was on about seemed like it was coincidental and the police were only going along with it because it happened to be working out. That was fun and kind of clever. But season 2 just went full force in the Fantasy genre and it started feeling like a kids show at times.
>>
>>82580344
Obviously it was aimed at TV audiences but you have to remember how different it was at that time. There was nothing like it before that. Also of course it wasn't full on "lynch" like his movies, it was Mark Frost's show as well.

However, the "ponderous sitcom" or "soap opera" elements were intentional and would have still been there had Lynch been in total control.
>>
>>82572944
Enough SJW pandering, there were plenty of black people on the show.
>Dr. who showed Cooper Ronette
>Lady who worked at the school who hated Bobby
>The Wrestling Coach
>The girl who worked at Horne's department store
>Blackie's sister/ Renault's wife
>The girl who worked at the Great Northern
>The guy who worked at the Great Northern

Such memorable characters. And we're getting Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters and Great Northern girl along with 50 Asian sounding literal who additions to the new cast.

So, how do I watch it on Hulu?
I have a commercial-free subscription, but I'm not sure if I can watch anything Showtime-related or not.
>>
>>82580650
Have you tried actually searching up on Hulu: "Twin Peaks".
That might be a start.
>>
>>82580219
she doesn't wear the ring though does she? Leland tries to force her to at the end of FWWM but she refuses, which is what makes him kill her.

I don't think there's an alternate timeline if that's what you mean. Laura's death at the end of FWWM was an affirmation of her resisting BOB once and for all, by not wearing the ring and being "wed" to him.
>>
>>82580751
I already know I can watch the first two seasons on there, but I don't know if I'll get access to this specific season or not.
I checked my account and it doesn't say I have the Showtime add-on.
>>
>>82580843
You will most likely have to give Showtime 15 more sheckles a month just to watch one show.
Best bet is just to stream it or pirate it, unless you are a rich-fag that is.

No, she puts the ring on and Bob screams in anger (because he is now unable to possess her), then he kills her. He always said if he couldn't have her he'd kill her.

I think I need to start my rewatch before I run out of time.

She does put the ring on. The ring ties her to MIKE somehow, making him entitled to her "garmonbozia" (pain and suffering, visually creamed corn). It also stops BOB from possessing her. Teresa had the ring and BOB/Leland killed her, which is why MIKE is pissed off and confronts Leland on the road.

So is the "missing pieces" going to be cannon or not?

Should I watch them? I feel like they are going to get me confused once I start watching season 3.
>>
>>82582010
I doubt they'll contradict anything. Most are expansions on what's in the movie already. You should watch them because they're great. You can also check out the fan edit that puts them back in the movie, works pretty well in my opinion, like two scenes aside (they're kind of pointless).
>>
>>82580843
I believe you have to add Showtime on your Hulu account while on a regular desktop, not mobile site or through the app
>>
>>82582010
how will you be confused by seeing more of what happens.

the only thing that matters or has any forward-looking significance is the very last epilogue, which has to do with the ring. but it's a small footnote that doesn't really need to be there.

Netflix has different selections by country. Some people in Canada have shows on Netflix that people in Australia don't.

That's because Lynch was forced by the studio to gut out all the fun to get it to a length that could be seen as acceptable by a wide audience. If you can, watch The Missing Pieces which edited all the scenes by Lynch into a companion film, or if you can track it down Q2's fan edit that merged the two into the closest we can get to the original cut.
