I just finished season 1 never watched Twin Peaks before and, no, I'm not here to bait and trash it but I feel like I watched two really good episodes and 6 episodes of boring filler.
he first episode got me really interested to see what was going to happen, and aside from the awesome dream scene it just kept cutting back and forward to these characters who I couldn't muster any motivation to care about. I know the show is popular for a mix of surrealism, soap-opera style drama, and mystery, but the soap opera stuff dominated the runtime. Again, not trying to bait, but is watching James and Donna make out for the twentieth time what made this show so popular? Did I miss the point?

Just dawned on me that time probably isn't relative in the black lodge because its interdimensional. Meaning the dream Laura had in FWWM was Coop from the future (stuck in the BL) telling her to not wear the ring, thus leaving Laura possessed by BOB and stopping the deaths that take place in the show.

I really tried to dig this show, and I enjoyed most of the first season. But how stupid is it that the killer was just some spirit/ghost thing that controls people? I felt so underwhelmed by that reveal. It's not clever nor is it interesting.

And was it really just accepted by everyone that "Bob" was the killer? Wouldn't it have been infinitely more interesting if Leland hadn't died and had to face the consequences of his possession? The only weak aspect of Bob was that they had to reveal he was the killer so early on. The original plan was to keep the mystery of Laura's death unsolved for the duration of the series and other shit would happen along the way to keep the series running.

Also, when Lynch came back for the finale he was clearly trying to bring the show back to it's core and made Laura, Leland and Bob all relevant to the plot again with the black lodge stuff.

Had season 3 happened in the 90s it would have been fucking amazing as Lynch was doing everything he could to save the show including going on Letterman to literally beg viewers to help save the show by writing to tv executives. Lynch would have kept the show in check from there on out. Or at least for season 3.

Which of course is finally happening now 27 years after the fact.

She does put the ring on. The ring ties her to MIKE somehow, making him entitled to her "garmonbozia" (pain and suffering, visually creamed corn). It also stops BOB from possessing her. Teresa had the ring and BOB/Leland killed her, which is why MIKE is pissed off and confronts Leland on the road.

I doubt they'll contradict anything. Most are expansions on what's in the movie already. You should watch them because they're great. You can also check out the fan edit that puts them back in the movie, works pretty well in my opinion, like two scenes aside (they're kind of pointless).

That's because Lynch was forced by the studio to gut out all the fun to get it to a length that could be seen as acceptable by a wide audience. If you can, watch The Missing Pieces which edited all the scenes by Lynch into a companion film, or if you can track it down Q2's fan edit that merged the two into the closest we can get to the original cut.
