I recently watched some movie where Michael Nyqvist played a Russian and it really felt like they'd been hoping to get Stormare, who can actually play a somewhat convincing Russian. There was a scene where the guy spoke Russian, and Nyqvist made it sound like he was speaking Swedish because his accent was so strong.

Nah, it was a spy movie with that wolf-dude from the Twilight movies starring.

Considering the movie, Nyqvist was probably just phoning it in. I don't remember him being that bad in John Wick. But even there you have a difference. No matter how bad the movie is, you never feel like Stormare is phoning anything in. Or at least I've never seen a movie where he does it.
