like scorsese or kubrick
it seems he had that one period with Godfather, Godfather Pt. 2 and Apocalypse Now
and then the rest of his movies ranged from mediocre to sh*t, he never had any consistency
Didn't he start a wine business or something after Apocalypse
maybe he had his fill with those 3 masterpieces and didn't feel like he had to do more
>forgetting the conversation
apocalypse now made him go insane and he never recovered

This and his son also died.

But Kubrick never made a shitty movie

he was very consistent actually. a lot of his recent stuff (Tetro, Youth Without Youth) is mostly prestige drama. He has also always experimented with heightened genre movies
throughout his entire career (One From The Heart, Dracula, Rumble Fish, Twixt)
so I don't really get why anyone would accuse him of being inconsistent. his films just never got big because they never got big studio backing.

Bipolar disorder
The weird thing is even his pre-70s movies are mediocre/shit.

Fear and Desire is a pretty shit movie although it was his first movie and he pretty much disowned the film.
