I remember reading the book years ago and enjoying it. The acting, production values, and story have been much better than what I was expecting.

How are people not seeing the obvious parallels that the book and show makes with islamist nations? Fuck sakes, we got truck hangings, FGM, religious law, the whole shebang.
>>
>>82539304
Much in the same way that Animal Farm was right wing propaganda, sure.

>Hey I want this steak medium rare
>uhhhh why not eat raw hot dogs?????

>>82539346
There are obvious parallels, but Atwood intended to point out that fundamentalist Christians aren't a hell of a lot different. Serena Joy was a clear reference to Phyllis Schlafly and her ilk.

Ohh, kinda disappointing. I thought it's gonna be something like this.
>>
I dont get it. I see people trying to prove that 1984 is what will happen when commies start ruling world. But when someone try to visualise the other side of spectrum its suddenly leftist propaganda. Jesus its just a fiction dystopian story. Stop being retards for fucks sake.

I wonder why sci fi authors are afraid of what religious institutions will do in the future even though at full power in the past, they werent half as bad as people think?
>>
>>82539505
>they werent half as bad as people think?
t. straight white Christian male
>>
>>82539477

I know. I guess I'm just waiting for the controversy when conservative news outlets inevitably start saying it's all about fundy hajjis and then women saying it's all christianity.

Thank God I'm working with retired teachers that don't care about anything aside from the basketball playoffs so I don't have to talk about this and sperg out.
>>
>>82539526

Well, they werent lining up gays for execution and farming women for procreation.

The enlightenment and other progressive ideas grew out of Christian institutions and thought; not despite of it.
>>
>>82539108
It's pretty good, but they went a little overkill with the whole BLACKED thing.

Do you know much about the Enlightenment, or rather, the Reformation? You're partially right in that the ideals grew out of Christians, certainly, but they grew in spite of the Institutions that ruled over Christianity for years. 'Knowledge' of the religion was disseminated through the ruling class that believed the Bible shouldn't be translated into a language the masses could understand, and it was Luther's translation and ideal of trying to 'reform' the Church that led to the downfall of the Catholic rule. Also 'in spite', not 'despite'.
>>
I have never seen an episode, but I am sick to death of it, just because they fucking advertise it ten times an hour...jesus Christ I swear...every commercial break...
>>
>>82539477
>There are obvious parallels,

Yes because islam and pisstianity are two sides of the same judeo-monotheist coin

The reason women are bringing all these islamic rapefugees fake migrants into white countries is because they actually crave shariah law without even realizing it
>>
It is correct in every sense.

Politically.
