In retropspect the burnt face was well designed yes, but as an 8 year old kid I wanted to see the mask and flowing cape all the time like in the cartoon so i was disappointed at how little there was of his powers in general.

i think that all the superhero costumes in Watchmen were all very well designed, except maybe for SS2's costume. I really liked Manhattens design, too, but I found that he was too bright and colorful for the film. I really liked him in the interview scene where he actually is able to change how luminescent he is and tones it down.

It's true though. Let me tell you that I'm one of the biggest Shadow fans under the age of fuckin 90 and I can tell you that for as much as that movie nailed the aesthetic it had no really memorable story and arguably The Shadow is the sort of character you cannot film like a conventional superhero. He's closer to a character like Jason or Michael Meyers in that you don't focus on him all the time and build up his appearances so that even when he's not actually doing anything the audience is on the edge of their seat just seeing him.
