Dread

It takes a stupid concept and plays it entirely straight in a well-structured and well-paced action movie that doesn't waste the audience's time. It's just an all-around solidly good action movie to the point that I am willing to suggest it may be the modern paragon of the genre.

Yeah. It's a toss up between Raid, Dread, and Mad Max: Fury Road. I'd be satisfied with any one of those. Raid is a little anti-climactic though but it's forgiveable. Dread and Fury Road are equally solid though Dread ends on an almost nihilistic note (fitting though so not a complaint) whereas Fury Road I don't have any serious complaints.

Really wanted a Dread sequel.

John Wick 1 and 2 is a non-movie. The stuntmanship is admirable but there is barely any reason to care aside from amazingly executed action scenes. You might aswell go and watch some Quake Live frag movie instead.
