I didn't hate it. It's just never going to be one of my favorite films. It's completely empty entertainment, Disney's stock-in-trade. It won't challenge you. It won't inspire you. It won't even give you anything to think about afterwards. It aims for more laughs than it gets and its shotgun approach to it obscures the more inspired attempts at comedy and humor. It's an excuse to sit in the dark for two hours and look at the pretty lights. As such, it passes with, pardon the pun, flying colors.

In its defense, the lights are very pretty.

>>
>>82520102
If you're serious, I guess that could be a valid reason to some. Even if you absolutely need to shitpost about a movie, I would just look at reviews, especially the most negative, as a basis. Do you think people on /v/ play all the games they attack, or that anyone would pay $60 just to rip it? Of course not. It might be cheaper to see a film for the same purpose, but it's not necessary.
>>
>>82520036
That's not a reference unless he said "believe in me who believes in you". And even then it wouldn't count as a reference but just as them stealing some funny one liner. If I go and watch some mindless blockbusters like Fast and Furious, Transformers, GotG, Avengers, BvS, Suicidie Squad etc I expect fun, entertaining 2 hours. If the movie delivers that, it's not trash because it did exactly what I was expecting from its genre. Only if the movie fails to do that then it's trash. You can't blame a genre for not delivering something that it never wanted to deliver in the first place. That's like watching a Jackie Chan kung fun movie and complaining about a lack of romance drama.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a perfect example of the decay of modern entertainment. A perfect paradigm of the vapid pop trash our youth is being conditioned to like.

It's not a coincidence that the "comic relief" characters are explicitly retarded: the audience is meant to relate to them.

At least the original Star Wars had a heart, an archetypally powerful message —the Hero’s Journey—, artistry behind its script/cinematography/soundtrack… but this DisneyMarvel garbage is just getting utterly brainless. Getting us one step closer to Idiocracy.
>>
>>82520639

I'm basically saying, "Hey, it's kind of an empty experience, but it's far from the worst time I've ever had at the movies. If you've got two brain cells to rub together, it might insult your intelligence on occasion, but it's not trying to do anything but aim low, so try to keep that in mind,"
>>
>>82520742
>Getting us one step closer to Idiocracy.

>>
When you hire hack directors to work as proxies for producers, hire hack writers to do the same, you rely on star power so much that they can't do stunts because they are too big for insurance companies, so the action scenes are fucking awful and have to be composed in post pro by grace of cutting to death and back and CGIng the whole thing, the only thing that can work is humor. Normal movies use comedic relief as a way to lighten an otherwise dark or too action packed tone. Marvel uses it in already light flicks because you don't relief from the tone of the movie but from the glaring awful movie making

Anyone saying this piece of shit is good needs to learn what makes a movie good. This wasn't a good action/superhero movie just like Modern Family isn't a good family show despite having quips
>>
>>82520694
They do get a lot right about Iron Man. My chief complaint is that they got the poster child for substance abuse to play the role and never seriously explored that aspect of his character. To me, that's what makes him Iron Man - his ability to overcome his addiction and persevere through sheer strength of will. That's pretty much non-existent in his movies. Tony's reduced to just being a quipster instead of demonstrating any of that massive willpower that goes hand-in-hand with that genius intellect.

You can sort of see that RDJ and Favreau entertained notions of exploring that aspect in Iron Man 2, but that's when the Disneyfication started to kick in, and that's when it firmly became a franchise aimed at children, not necessarily actual fans of the characters.

I also believe that's about the time that I think RDJ stopped giving a single fuck about the character.

The rich irony in this post.

You're complaining a movie designed for as wide(and therefore as simple) an audience as possible is written in a simple crowd pleasing way and then suggesting you're somehow smarter for criticising it.

By the way, Disney writing is all about """The Hero's Journey""", in fact the book by Joseph Campbell is considered a key text for disney writers.

Yeah, because it's the formula they use and never elaborate, expand, or dwell upon any single facet. It's always just the broadest, most shallow of strokes, every single film to the point where it's rendered meaningless in their hands.
