Who paid Galadriel to riverdance?

Literally everyone rich

because freedom isnt free anon
>>
Elves literally gave them a bunch of valuable shit.

Pippin got a suit of armor from Denethor and got to keep it.
>>
Why do people take it so out of context. He literally literally said he liked LotR. Hell his more important point was did Aragorn massacre all the tiny baby orcs too?

They held a 1,5% commission on the mutual funds earnings

What sorts of health insurance policy was set up for hobbits, hmm? If one got stage four kidney cancer, but lingered on for years, what political infrastructure guaranteed continued care for them and fringe benefits for their dependents, hmm?
>>
Let's see:
>Gandalf
Far above material things. The Hobbits gave him kilograms of Old Toby when whenever he dropped by the Shire and that's all he cared about.
>Aragorn
Literal king of all men. He was rich as a ranger and the richest man in Middle Earth after the War.
>Legolas
Prince of Mirkwood. He was just bored.
>Gimli
Comes from a wealthy family. Not to mention Gloin was rich as fuck after Erebor.
>Boromir
lel
>Frodo
Sole heir to Bag End. Bilbo was rich as fuck before The Hobbit and came home with treasures beyond imagining.
>Merry
Hobbit royalty. The Brandybucks were fucking loaded.
>Pippin
The Tooks were Hobbit jews. He had land and money enough.
>Sam
Poor as fuck gardener. The only member of the Fellowship that would actually require payment. He snatched up that prime Hobbit pussy and that's treasure enough.

Everyone but Sam was a bored, spoiled brat that just needed something to do.

His story will probably end with the Iron Bank being the only winner. The Dragon slut and her Dragons will be killed. Jonsno will be killed. His ugly af sisters, killed. Jamie and Cersi will be the survivers and rule the kindoms, but they will be heavily in debt and rely on the Iron Bank to keep their power illusion going. And thus, the cycle continues.
>>
Following the war of the ring, did Gondor initiate a five year economic plan for reconstruction?
>>
>>82405242
I see. But what about all that shit in Isengard where they are being pulled out of the dirt and reborn, as if they were once elves or some shit, but now are grotesque creatures that shouldn't be without evil magic.

Iron Bank itself doesn't make sense since any supremely rich organization would get BTFO in a moment if not backed by a military force of its own in a medieval setting.
>>

The book has made tons of references to paid sell swords, and even large armies of such working for who ever pays the most. Then there's all the assassins they could hire.

The fat man better do something with the bank. He built up this image of them as something that can't be denied it's payment.
>>
>>82405432

They are backed up by a millitary force dummy
>>
>le Iron Bank meme
>gives out a huge as fuck loan to Stannis without any coverage, not even asking what the fuck he wants to do with the mercs he hires
>its guaranteed that they wouldn't given him a single copper if they knew that he wants to go with his army to the wall in the fucking winter
>>
>>82406214
This is where the whole concept of the iron bank falls flat
An institution that just willy nilly founds a whole army to some random dude with no actual prospects, just because his right hand made a nice speech, is not going to survive for thousands of years
>>
>>82405513
what did they mean by this?

The Uruk Hai were supposed to be half orc, half human. But both Tolkien and Peter Jackson preferred to skim over the details of that ...

>mfw the bowels of Isengard were full of pregnant and terrified human rape-slaves
>>
>>82403902
Literally this.

In heroic sagas, the heroes have always been rewarded with valuable artifacts. It was just the practical way to pay them off. Lugging around masses of coins was difficult and dangerous, so finely-crafted jewellery, ornate weapons and armour etc. were used as practical stores of wealth.

This dates back to the Iliad and Odyssey, when there wasn't even a monetary system to pay people with.

Yes but you can't pay for a house with a suit of armor. You can't buy food with a gold chain. How did they not starve?
>>
>>82406614
>Yes but you can't pay for a house with a suit of armor.
even a barely decent chainmail shirt is worth more than a family house

>You can't buy food with a gold chain.
actually you can that's the whole point
>>
>>82406738
So they are expected to sell the highly personal, unique, and meaningful presents they were given to ceremoniously?

>>

>>
>>82406373
Except it was never a criticism. Do you even know the context of the quote?

He was asked why his fantasy stories were dark and what influence he had from LotR

>>82405305
They were supposed to be corrupted eloves at least in the first generation. If they were ever babies is actually a point he never answered because he didn't want to make a species that was born evil (conflicted with his religion too much) but he also didn't think they would be able to indoctrinate all young orcs so well that they were all evil by adulthood
>>
>>82403712
Who paid the orcs? Are we to believe that they follow Sauron even though all he provides is maggoty bread?
>>
>>82406959
Maybe maggoty bread is an orcish delicacy, kind of like maggoty cheese IRL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casu_marzu
>>
>>82406614
>How did they not starve?
Because they had estates, farms and servants to provide for them. These are noble legendary heroes we're talking about, not some roving bunch of D&D characters.
>>
>>82406977
Why would they get sick of a delicacy? I mean they were ready to cut off someone's leg. That seemed a little extreme considering they have the orcish equivalent of beef wellington.
>>
>>82406435

Why would you say something so mean?
>>
>>82407036
Too much of a good thing, anon. Also the scene could've been there to show that orcs are naturally violent savages, as some races and cultures are known to be in real world.
>>
>>82407074
It is a completely unrealistic depiction then. I have never seen a negro killing a white man while the former still had fried chicken at his disposal.
>>
>>82407105
Maybe orcs are more like Muslims?
>>
>>82406449

Or dunlending bulls amashing orc pussy 24/7
>>
>>82406959
The prospect of rape and plunder were chief attractions of joining a medieval army. Plus the knowledge that you were unlikely to starve.

>Cersei cut a deal with the High Septon so the crown's debt (only from money borrowed from the church) would be forgiven and in return The Faith reinstated The Warriors Sons and The Poor Fellows two orders that use violence to push the agenda
>The Iron Bank is officially supporting Stannis the Mannis to take over from the Lannisters/Tyrells

>>
>>82407178
>the iron bank backs stannis and the crown is in huge debt to them

Sam became mayor of Hobbiton. His whole adventuring thing was just a scheme to gain political capital.
>>

>Stannis squanders all their money fighting in the north
So now that the Iron Bank essentially squandered an entire kingdom's worth of money funding Stannis's war, what will happen to the Iron Bank?
>>
>>82407385
Going on a life changing adventure to destroy one of the most powerful evil forces Middle Earth has ever seen with the heirs of three of Hobbiton's most prominent families put his name on everyones lips. Sam was a fucking political genius.
>>
>>82407178
So the crown still spent decades lending more and more money to the crown without any guarantee that they'd be getting it back, and then went on to support another candidate with zero prospects who proceeded to waste his army and can't pay fuckall back
Nice going mighty bank of braavos
>>

>>

>>
>>82406793

>>
>>82405305
That was a film bro, not a book. Orcs reproduce like men so Uruk hai are literally bred from rape.
>>
>>82405432
The House of the Faceless Men is funded by the bank. They train their initiates by brainwashing them into killing for "just causes", and eventually after enough brainwashing the members of their assassin cult are sent to perform assassinations against money, often in service of the Iron Bank.

also it is sadly realistic that bankers make big bets that might end up costing them money, like betting on Stannis because they happened to pissed at the current monarch,
>>
>>82403927
maybe if he described the taxation policies of the kings in his own book maybe he wouldnt have come off as such a massive dickhead and moron
>>
>>82403712
Rivendell is loaded, the last legal continuation of past Noldor kingdoms. Elrond family is rich in ways the commoners of Middle Earth cannot even grasp.
Imagine all those 10000 year old Noldori heirlooms, swords filled with jewels, armours made of mithril and decorated with who knows what kind of elven jewelry they took with them from the Undying lands.

imagine how big a collateral loan you can get from the Central Bank of Valinor in exchange of THREE SILMARILS.
Enough to fund a gigantic excursion to Belerieland for your extended family that lasts a few thousand years.

Nice history meme

Medieval armies were either hired men or part of a military caste that owed military service to their lord
>>
>>82408992
He just wanted a vacation... little did he know what was in store. I believe the people of Gondor gave him a new vest, and he really came out of it in the best position if you consider all that Cotton he got.
>>
>>82409818
So you're saying they weren't looking forward to rapey time, or making their fortune through plunder. This would explain the complete absence of these phenomena from medieval history.

They're absent from European history because whites aren't fucking savages like the lesser races.

>Tolkien includes a number of heroic figures, but they are not of the "Conan" stamp. They are not larger-than-life swashbucklers who fear neither monster nor magic. His wizards are either ineffectual or else they lurk in their strongholds working magic spells which seem to have little if any effect while their gross and stupid minions bungle their plans for supremacy. Religion with its attendant gods and priests he includes not at all. These considerations, as well as a comparison of the creatures of Tolkien's writings with the models they were drawn from (or with a hypothetical counterpart desirable from a wargame standpoint) were in mind when Chainmail and Dungeons & Dragons were created.
>Take several of Tolkien's heroic figures for example. Would a participant in a fantasy game more readily identify with Bard of Dale? Aragorn? Frodo Baggins? or would he rather relate to Conan, Fafhrd, the Grey Mouser, or Elric of Melnibone? The answer seems all too obvious.
>>
>>82405196
They do. The only part of Orc society we get to see is the military one. Orcs are a corruption of Elves and evil in LOTR is unable to create life from nothing, it has to twist something that already exists. So the Orcs are corrupted creatures that eventually became their own species, but still reproduced sexually. And the various dark lords used magic to age them quickly.
