The Targaryens were a 3rd-rate House, not even amongst the top echelons of Valyrian nobility. We could see the other dragon-rider houses and their wars of conquest like how they subjugated Rhoyne, thus Nymeria & her people fleeing in ships and wandering until they disembarked in Dorne.

What exactly would happen in here? There's little intrigue between the major houses and everyone just seems to do their own thing, which house would the story even center around; none of the great lords are occupied with much at this time.

Cost for dragons would be insane, and the scale of each battle would have to be done properly, especially for the Valyria stuff. Aegon's Conquest doesn't have too much intrigue going on, its just "he goes to [insert region] and the king of said region bends the knee or fights back"

If all the events are slowed down and multiple seasons are done for it, this could work. There's a good core cast of characters in this with Aegon II, Daemon and Rhaenyra. It would require stretching out CGI-heavy parts so we won't see dragons fighting in consecutive episodes and more characterization for those core group of characters.
