He does the simple well. In such a way he's almost doing nothing.

A quiet Will farrell if you will.

Real talent type shit.

the Joe DiMaggio of comedy.

The Jerk is one of the funniest films of all time.
>>
Steve Martin was a hunk
>>
His book Born Standing Up explains it all. He is a great performer and a genuine guy who was always smart and humble with his success.
>>
What's some good Steve Martin kino? Any recs?
>>
>>82371807
i happen to love Goldie Hawn so, HouseSitter was kawaii af for me.
>>
>>82371337
1337 digits, my friend.

Steve Martin makes comedy seem so natural and genuine.

The Pink Panther re-makes were a shame though.

As posted above, The Jerks is one of the finest comedy movies ever made.
>>
>>82371807
Parenthood to see his acting chops. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a classic, and I would also recommend his first three comedy albums.
>>
>>82371337

His super early stuff from SNL was great...the Jerk, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels...

Plays a mean banjo too...
>>
I don't like him because he is black.
>>
The man with two brains, ratbags and scoundrels? I am not sure of that title. Also Little shop of horrors which I loved as a kid but now it seems pretty dated.

You guys are the best. Thanks!
>>

He's pretty much great in everything he's in. Hell, I was babysitting my nephew and the only thing he'll sit down for is that Home cg movie with Rhianna and the Bazinga man. I was ready to hate it on reflex but Steve Martin plays a pretty good role in it and I ended up liking it way more than I thought possible.
>>
Something always seemed off about his comedy to me. Him and Chevy Chase. It's like they portray a character who has zero confidence but they don't do it in a charming Rick Moranis kind of way, more in an awkward "I never get things right" Canadian way.
>>
>>82371953
Thank you! I'll add it all to my list.
>>
>>82371983
Chevy has too much confidence. It was his kryptonite.
>>
>>82371807

Bowfinger is both Steve and Eddie Murphy's last funny movie
>>
>>82371895
You sir are talking to a nigger!
>>
>>82371983
The thing with Steve is that he was a philosophy major before he went into comedy, and it shows. His stand-up is both intellectual and silly at the same time.
>>
The best thing to come out of Garden Grove High School.
>>
He's a decent author too. Born Standing Up is a great memoir, and Shopgirl is a nice little novel.

What I've seen. I've never seen Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid mentioned here.

>Thoughts on this wild and crazy guy?

Awesome back in the day, Man With Two Brains, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Three Amigos, The Jerk, are all favourite comedies of mine, also he had a ton of great skits on SNL.

Sadly the poor choice of doing those late Pink Panther remakes will forever tarnish his great repertiore.

I will never be able to truthfully say that again. I say "payamas" because of that film.

> You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right, I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you... but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

I loved it as a kid but I watched it a few years back and wasn't that into it. Have I turned into a cynical asshole?
>>
>>82372963
Possibly.
Maybe it was just a bad day for comedy.
