there are plenty of attractive 37 year old women I could see starring in major films

the problem is, Maggie Gyllenhaal is not attractive.
>>

Shes never looked good at any age.

Seriously, is she some producers kid or something?
>>
>>82358961
Yeah, it is. It promotes dishonest film-making, dishonesty toward reality. It is the mainstream version to the problems in pornography.
>>
>>82358961
Odd how she doesnt mention what the role is
Almost as if its intended for someone young...
>>
what went right?
>>
>>82358961
That's how it works for women. You derive all your worth from birth from having a vagina and sell yourself like a whore while you're young, then you age and are worth markedly less. Men are worth little to nothing from birth and have to earn their way, the benefit of this delayed start is that the sky is limit and age is no barrier.

Deal with it roasties.
>>
>>82358961
more like too ugly, DAMN!
>>
Life is so hard for a woman in the movie business. Men working in sewers just don't know how good they have it.
>>
from an evolutionary perspective women don't need their looks past their mid 30's. blame biology.
>>
Dude she shouldn't be in any role
>>
>>82359066
Yeah it was probably supposed to be the guys daughter or something, eg Logan
>>
Sort of. She has a mistaken belief that her opinion matters because she's a somewhat successful actor. Her involvement doesn't make or break movies/TV shows. While the older man with a younger woman cliche is kind of boring at this point, she's not attractive so people are going to continue to indirectly tell her she's not right for the role.
>>
>>82359033

This. Maybe if she didn't look like she was pushing 50 she would be able to land some age appropriate roles

Sounds more like hollywood is just representing reality. Its a lot easier for a man to pull a younger woman than vise versa.

Some people would call that a "problem" with society, but then you're scolding people over who they're attracted to, so fuck those people.

Except this is driven by the consumers.
Women's attractiveness decreases with age, because as women get older they're less likely to have viable offspring. As for men a lot of their attractiveness is tied with wealth and status, which usually increases with age. Just ask any evolutionary psychologist.

Consumers prefer to see attractive people on screen. Not "realistic" people.

With today's effects they can make anyone look young and attractive. The reason Maggie Gyllenhaal doesn't get big roles is because her blowjob technique is not up to the standard producers and directors are used to.
>>
>>82359884
Similar situation, old HS people look old as shit, I still surprise people that I'm not late teens, early 20s. I'm almost 27 and still look relatively young. Fuck em KEK.
>>
>>82359924

It is easier to hire young not well known actress.
>>
>>82359756
Because any existence of systematic preference for attractive women (even in romance, where attractiveness is entirely relevant), upsets the ugly women at the intellectual center of leftism.

This is why "fat shaming" is a concept. Not because fat people are victims, but because they're insecure about their attractiveness compared to "skinny bitches"
>>
>>82358961
Well, it's most certainly a problem for an mediocre actress that's no longer young and attractive enough to get by on that alone....

Maggie just has unfortunately genetics that make her look about 15 years older than she really is. And that grandma haircut isn't helping matters.

And I'd almost be inclined to call BS on the fact that she's really 37. She looks at least 10 years older than that.

She hit it big with Donnie Darko. Had a string of maybe 5 big hit movies after..... then got to old to play the eye candy female leads.

Kurt Russell astutely commented on the plight of aging female actresses in an interview. He said there's plenty of roles for aging women in Hollywood, the problem is they don't want them. They always want to play the young attractive ingenue and refuse to consider more motherly or age appropriate roles for women in middle age.

Womens' sexual attractiveness fades far quicker than a man who takes care of himself. If they realize this and can embrace it, they still have a career in Hollywood. If they keep expecting to play the eye candy young female leads at 40, they're being ridiculous and unrealistic.

Even with cutting edge studio magic, it's still not quite believable. If they want a 20 year old for the role, they're best off hiring one.... if they want a middle aged woman, best hire a middle age actress.

That bitch looks like Leia on Rogue One.....
>>
Maggie looks old, not her fault, nothing she can do about it, just a fact. Actresses skate by on their looks when they're young, nobody cares much about their acting ability, but that just means they have an expiration date once they're no longer hot.

I work in the industry and yes, it happens. But for arguably good reasons, or reasons that make sense
movie making is a business, its about selling ideas and people to make a movie, so that movie makes even more money that you spend so the machine can keep going. Your pitch (if it ever makes it so far) will usually go through one mother fucker of a process to see how they can maximize profits and all angles will be looked at
>is their a franchise already
>do we have the rights to it
>is the fanbase big enough to consider
>if not, can we acquire them and is it worth it
>who is involved and can we trust them
>what is the risk/reward ratio
granted, its not always like this. Indie movies for example are a bit more lax, but they dont have nearly as much funding and support. but for most movies, especially a big blockbuster that could lead to a series, this process is important. A bit fucked up and full of dirty back door dealing? you bet your ass but for a studio to put a lot of hope (money) into a project can you blame them?
actors are just one part of the machine, but a very big and important part. You want to be able to see a good actor and their role since thats what most people are going there for. Sorry maggie, but most people want to see a sexy young women and if you dont have that appeal you need to figure something out. find a new niche or be willing to experiment or take roles you wouldnt normally consider. Why do you think robert dDeNerio is play the funny old grandpa is most of his films now, when he used to be a huge sex symbol/image of a bad ass? Because hes over the hill too in that regard so hes going with what hes got and making it work

its not rocket science this stuff, nobody just wants to say it out loud because its shitty. Anyone who really wants to get involved in this industry, I recommend having a background or basic understanding in advertisement
>>
>>82359325
Any age you think an actor is is at least 10 years younger than he actually is.

Maggie is the female Brenden Fraser.

She's a mediocre actress who got by from being young and attractive (in a quirky type way). Then middle age beat her pretty hard with the ugly stick.

Since she was never really a great actress to begin with she couldn't make the transition from a young eye candy actress to a respected actress that play motherly middle-aged type roles.

I plan on having kids within 10 years. By the time they're 30 something, they'll take care of my ass. Easily coasting through life and enjoying as much free time as possible is the way to go, son. yeah the "don't worry they'll fail school and work shit jobs and become losers" meme is just a lie they told you to console you. it's all about confidence, connections, sociability. and nowadays that marriage is a dead institution you can rest assured that all the women will flock around the best guys till they're 40 year old single moms, used up, depressed, undesirable.

This is why women's dating value is at it's highest when they're young. Men's dating value is at it's highest when they're middle aged, because they're most likely to have a bit of power, wealth, and have the best potential as providers (this is also why a male's viability as a mate stems more from their ability to provide than their physical attributes).

And in all honestly, this probably makes life a bit easier to be a guy. You'll have dating hardships when you're young and poor, but if you live right, you'll be hot commodity as you age. Women have life on easy mode when young, but as their looks fade, easy mode gets turned off. If they haven't already reeled a man in at this point or set up a good career, it gets FAR harder for a middle aged woman to do so. Even things like securing good jobs or promotions are based more on looks for women than most will admit. Particularly an acting gig.

The rules of life are different for men and women. No amount of crying will change the rules of biology.

Old women aren't hot. In a career where attractiveness is a huge asset, they become far less marketable..... and this is all fine and good if they're willing to play age appropriate roles. But if the role calls for a 20 year old vibrant woman, a 40 year old will only work in very special circumstances.... a woman like Anne Hathaway may be able to pull it off. A woman who just has very good genetics and looks 15 years younger..... but another woman like Maggie, who has the opposite condition, she tends to look 15 years older; will not do.

If she wants to play an older housewife or a mother, she could get those roles.... but roles made for young female eye candy will no longer fit.
>>

I live a pretty solitary life outside of a few friends, family, and coworkers, but it helped me so much when I wanted to get over people who only bring pain into your life.

>the lighting is so messed up you can't even make out the lines of her misshapen body
>>
>>82362029
>>82362029
She was cute in a quirky type way.

Cute in a quirky way does not usually age well. The weird thing that seemed sort of unique when they were younger tends to sort of get more grotesque as they age.

Like Renee Zellweiger, the odd features simply get more odd and the youthful vibrancy falls away. So you just eventually get a weird looking old woman.

Her career is not over.... but she needs to understand that she is now a mediocre looking middle aged woman, if she picks roles that call for that, she'll do fine. If she keeps holding out to play the hot female lead roles, she's never gonna get another gig.

It's unfortunate but she's not going to have the same type of career as Jennifer Anisten, Wynona Ryder, or Marisa Tomei.... women that look young for their age and can pass for 15 years younger.

Being able to retain your youthful looks are one of life's great inequalities (particularly for women). Not everyone is dealt the same hand.
>>
>>82362481
She should embrace the ability to play more serious roles that lean more on her acting chops. Though I can see her being mad that she can't just be a damsel anymore.

Also, what you were saying about quirky, is exactly why I don't think people like Cara Delevigne are attractive. They don't age well at all.

I mentioned this in passing earlier, but it needs to be repeated. Look at her haircut and clothing style, both read as styles a 50 year old woman would choose. That's not helping things.

Maggie has been one that has always been fashionably unfasionable. She'd wear styles that are 70 years out of date, and not the kind that's fashionably quaint, the kinds of styles that are ugly. Hipsters do this quite a bit.

When she was younger, this only contributed more to her quirky charm. Now that she's truly beginning to look like an old woman, having an old woman's sense of style isn't helping things.

And no older woman should ever be sporting the elderly Sharon Stone haircut or old lady afro.... it makes it look like she's ready for the nursing home.

If she grew her hair out a bit to look more like a young woman (seriously, no woman under 50 usually have that style), dressed in a youthful and attractive style. She's probably at least look 37, her real age.... rather than someone who looks like they're pushing 50.

thats a question of perspective. most bimbos getting pumped and dumped will tell you chad is a sweet but troubled person but he totes has a kind heart. nice guys are often just limp dicked faggots.
