That's what he's like in real life though

Extremely unfunny and contrived persona when outside the context of his own show. I've watched the Nardwuar interview, I've watched the Hot Ones episode, and a myriad of other things he's appeared in. In nearly every one he's acted tryhard and insufferable and overbearing on the routine of the dude he's being interviewed by.

As for the show it's pretty hit-or-miss. Funniest moments are nearly always Hannibal moments though.
