Prometheus uses complete stupidity (with the actions of supposedly intelligent crew) to drive the plot forward in the first half. Then, in the second half it fails to gain any meaningful ground. David is a poor antagonist, the logic behind the alien organism's growth is nonsensical, the entire infertile/birthing subplot/sequence feels shoehorned in and Shaw is a very passive protagonist that struggled to get me engaged with her.

The film only really picks up when the Engineer wakes up but then you have "running in a straight line" meme. It's a poor prequel to Alien and it's a poor standalone movie.
