What spooked you the most as a kid?

Taking a rusty hook to the crotch is a horrifying thought that this movie stuck in my mind. The bees, not so much.

>>
The one that always stuck with me most was the dread of being so utterly helpless as the prisoners of The Cube 1997.

Otherwise Saw: 238194. The scene with the black guy in "the rack" having each of his limbs twisted 180 degrees at the joint.

The whole Candyman/Bloody Mary thing was a pretty big deal when I was younger, everyone had some kind of spooky story to tell about it, like they knew someone who had a cousin who said the names and died or some shit.
I wonder if kids are still spreading spooky rumors like that around even now, or if its been replaced with other shit

Everything about these fools. I had 3 reoccuring nightmares I can still vividly remember from the time I was very young til I was prolly 14. These guys were in one of em (slightly related, another about being inside Jurassic Park after the dinos get out). Looking back now, it's ridiculous. But I legitimately woke up sweating, out of breath and trying to yell my lungs out multiple times.
>>
>>82289351
Candyman would really piss people off nowadays.

You have this black guy who had been tortured and killed by a mob for racemixing come back in the present day as this killer demon who slaughters innocent people, and the heroine is all "nah, sorry about the past but that's your problem" and defeats and destroys him. The end.

The dark.

And desu I'm still scared of it. For a while I thought that I need to figure out how to stop being scared of something that naturally happens each day, but I keep putting it off.

When I sleep, I have to have one side of my bed against the wall so that when I turn off the light, I can quickly cover myself in my blanket, put 1 pillow on top of my head, and then squeeze my face between the wall and my bed. I stuff a pillow there and wad up the covers so I can block my ears. This is the most important part.

Blocking my ears makes me feel safe. Because I can close my eyes and pretend I'm somewhere else. And since I'm completely under the covers, I know my body is safe. It's like I'm in a cocoon.

When I was little, my mom thought something was wrong with me because of the way she saw me walking to the bathroom one night. I moved quickly, with my left hand covering my left ear, and my right shoulder scrunched up towards my right ear, with my neck tilted to the right so I could block my ear with my shoulder and still use my right hand.

I always feel like something's there. And unfortunately, I'm not joking. My family lives in a quiet rural southern town. If I'm outside at night alone, I still get scared. There is a forest behind our house. I've never been in it for long at night by myself because I've been able to avoid it. But if it's dark and I have to go down to get the tractor to help my dad or something, that walk to the shelter near the woods always spooks me. The soft wind, making noise with objects I can't see in the distance. The warm air, which feels inviting at first, but after a moment when you start to notice all the shadows behind you it starts to feel suffocating. The fact that where I am standing now, in the dark, with my back in the open, is leaving me vulnerable.

My greatest fear is either being lost alone in the woods at night, with the forest making so many noises I can't think. Or being helplessly afloat in the middle of the ocean.

I don't actually remember what film it was, and I don't care to, but when i was like 10 years old I caught some midnight television broadcasting a horror movie.

It was about some inmates who found an occult book and tried to use it to escape prison.
One of them was a bull dyke transvestite. A guy had a collage of vaginas clipped from porn magazines glued next to his bed bunk, which would come alive and start dripping fluid at night.

Shit was pretty nasty.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Nightbreed. I couldn't remember what it was called but I did some research and finally found it.
The monsters and stuff were pretty scary but what really freaked me out was the scene near the beginning where the family is murdered by the serial killer dude. Kinda like what >>82298996 said, the idea that you could just be minding your own business and some psychopath could come into your house and kill your whole family for no fucking reason really disturbed me. I was just a kid and nothing like that had ever even crossed my mind before so I guess this really made an impression on me.
I couldn't fall asleep after I saw it because I kept thinking about somebody breaking into my house and slitting my parent's throats like in the movie. My mom came in to check on me and saw I was crying so I explained I was afraid of being murdered by a crazy person and she told me "Oh, anon. That probably won't happen!" My mom is a nice lady and she didn't like lying to her kids but I could have done without the "probably" in that fucking sentence.
The entire movie is on YouTube if anybody is curious for some reason but it's pretty shit quality.
