What films or television programs featuring interracial relationships have you watched recently?
Why is the black male-white female relationship so intellectually mature and rife for material on social commentary, psychosexuality, and race relations?
Why is the white male-Asian female relationship so creepy and consistently characterized by racial fetishism rather than sincere affection?
I recently saw Spike Lee's Jungle Fever. It was incredibly erotic and provocative, and really changed the way I thought about power relations in the unspoken racial hierarchy of America. Casual racism really is in someways just as bad as open racism. At least it was satisfying when that racist John Turturro got cucked by Wesley Snipes, who is basically the ultimate alpha male
I think a gay or lesbian analogue to this film would have a lot of potential for engaging storytelling with so much more complex social tensions, both within the LGBT community and outside. Which actors would be good for a film/show featuring a black male-white male relationship?
