No idea. I saw this at random in the movie theatre.

The CGI is extremely ambitious. I recommend watching semi-drunk to lower your critcalness of the special effects.

Watch out for the ticket prices tho. $23 at my random theatre....

Also: There is a ~8-minute extended set of BUSINESS CREDITS at the beginning of the movie. THEY THANK THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THE MOBILE GAME. This is not a joke or an exaggeration. It is the single most stereotypically Indian thing in this movie.

Main Hoon Na is the perfect entry-level Bollykino for any audience not familiar with the industry.

Main Hoon Na is a 2004 Bollywood film which has all the quintessential elements of a Bollywood film, while simultaneously parodying those elements and utilizing them in a very self-aware manner. Bollywood has a genre unique to it called "masala", which refers to a medley of genres, whereby a film has action, romance, drama, comedy, etc all packed into one film. This is Main Hoon Na's genre, and you'll be surprised at how well they executed a film that is so schizophrenic in its constantly-shifting tone.

The lead actor of the film is SRK, dude's one of my favorite actors period, he's really charismatic and is one of the few Bollywood actors who have amassed a following outside of Asia, which is the result/proof of him possessing a sort-of universal likability. Just a really cool dude.

The film is about SRK as an army major who needs to return to college, undercover, in order to protect the daughter of an army general, and also reunite with a family he wasn't aware he had.

A little bit of Indian/Hindu background is needed for context sake, so I'll provide you with it. In Hindu mythology, there is a god named Rama, who has a younger human brother named Lakshmana. There is a demon named Ravana, who is Rama's archnemesis. In the film, SRK plays a character named Ram, his brother is Lakshman, and the bad guy is named Ravan. The names in the film are shorthands for, and parallels to, the characters in the mythology. That's about all the context you need. Oh, and Hindus perform prayers with oil lamps and stuff like that.

Stream or DL it online. Watch in HD, with English subtitles. I went through the effort of typing all this, you better watch it and make a thread on /tv/ after doing so, so I can respond to it.

Enjoy bruv. It's really over-the-top but is very self-aware in doing so, which makes it great. 3 hours fly by with this one.

I watched the movie in Flint, Michigan. I was assuredly the only white guy there.

The movie started with a nearly 10-minute sequence where they thanked all of the movie's business partners, all the way down to financiers and the company that made the movie's licensed mobile game. I started audibly hissing about halfway thru, and I heard the other people in the back of the theatre mumble at me, but not sure what they said...

That whole pre-movie credit sequence was bad. And the forced advertisments for various indian restaurants were pretty bad, too... Such an extreme, oblivious hunger for BUSINESS...

Really, it was the only bad part of this film. (To me, anyway...)
