Here's the REAL Problems with Samurai Jack season 5

1.) It's a TV Show that thinks it's a movie. I've been watching every week since season 1. And i'm seeing arcs that look like they would work well in a Movie. But this is not a movie, this is a TV Show. This seems like something catered to binge watchers. It's an experience that feels like it SHOULD be watched in one sitting, so why fragment the releases of these episodes? It's destroying the experience

2.) The art style think it's a movie. Some of the art is consistent with what you would see in the cinema. Even small thinks like classic Jack not having eye-outlines works well on the big screen, but we're not watching this on the big screen, you fucking faggots

3.) THE SERIES CHANGES GENRES EVERY EPISODE - Why can't this series keep 1 format? It changes ENTIRE GENRES every episode. At one point it's a guy fighting for survival, then it's Moby Dick 2.0.

4.) It's catering too much to fans - Admit it. This series has too much fanservice. It should have been like the first 3 episode with only very vague references to the old series.

5.) Ashi is being set up to "ease" the blow of Jack not returning to the past.

I've said time and time again that it doesn't matter if character is a male, female or whatever shit it is, if it's written poorly anyway. Ashi makes the whole season suffer, because she ruins the pacing with her shenanigans, WHILE not giving any good nor meaningful stuff to the viewer. Her character is cookie cutter le waifu piece of shit without any real depth, every conflict about her is resolved in a matter of one episode, just fucking god awful.

It's writers' fault obviously, they made a poor plot and poor characters for 10 episode season. Could it be better given more time? Maybe.

The point of this season (and I know that from Genndy interviews) is that Jack lost his way and doesn't seem as much heroic as he was in the past and overall more adult show yadda yadda. The most important thing in all of this is that 50 years has passed.

>Ep 1 has a pretty good introduction, that Jack has changed in a pretty believable manner, although I couldn't really understand why he went after robobugs but refused to help a village.
>Ep 2 Jack gets ambushed, okay. It's an intense episode, Jack has to run, him hiding and fighting back was done in a good manner.
>Ep 3 Jack fights back, there's a first sign of decline in subtlety when the wolf from the last episode shows up. There was no real reason to do that, in fact it would have been better if wolf just worked as a mirror for Jack for one episode. It was just more interesting that way. The fight with daughters was okay, it had some pretty noticeable and unnecessary errors but overall was just okay.
>Ep 4 was the one that started a huge decline of the overall season. Don't get me wrong, the setting was pretty fun as a nod towards old seasons but everything else... Ashi's persona was way too annoying. I get it, she hates Jack, but she doesn't have to behave like a spoiled child, even if she's young. Also Jack started quipping and acting like nothing happened in the last episode. When you think about it, there wasn't a good reason for Jack to care for Ashi and be friendly towards her, because she wasn't any different from other daughters. It shows that Genndy doesn't think like the viewer and makes it very apparent that Ashi is going to be an ally when it realistically should not be showed at this point. It was too early for that.
>Ep 5 was a total mess when it comes to pacing. Showing the evil of Aku should have spread over the whole season, that way it would have been more emotional, believable, just better. But nah, it worked like "okay here, and here" and it's done. Ashi is now good [cont]

Demongo appearance was the worst shit, from all the characters they could bring back, they bring him, who should have been dead or just unable to do the stuff he was doing. I mean, what was even the point of Jack fighting him, if he comes back like nothing happened anyway? Ruining your own continuity just for a simple joke shows that Genndy doesn't really care for that stuff. Also the whole ghost on a horse thing was resolved too quickly in an anti climactic manner. Just another failure of subtlety being nonexistent.
Ep 7 The whole army thing was unnecessary, if it was just a fight between Ashi and her mother, it would have been much better and carried more weight to the whole Ashi's journey. Also it would have helped if Ashi wasn't sure if she really is on Jack side as I mentioned earlier. But nah, it was guaranteed that Ashi wasn't going to show any complex emotion or thought, just kill whoever that stands against her and Jack, whatever. Jack getting his sword was resolved in an anti climactic manner aswell [cont]
