It's still the fastest and most reliable source of local information where I live.

Switzerland.
>out shopping on a saturday
>always a crowd of people around the teletext TV showing the football scores
Teletext was pretty damn revolutionary though, you got instant updates to news and events that you simply never got in the days before you were able to get on to the net.
I remember first reading about the Dreamcast on Digitiser when it was announced.
>>82215207
Bamboozle was the shit.
Was teletext just an euro thing?
>>82215207
aw that's cool, I wish we had that here. By the way I'm a girl.
>spending hours trying to find test pages and other weird stuff
>>82215742
>tfw playing Bamboozle and reading Turner the Worm on a Saturday morning
>>82216147
>tfw you find out the lewd pages

>>82215487
I am surprised a yuro country still has it. I know the UK and France switched theirs off years ago.
>>82215207
tfw they pulled they pulled the plug on it a few years ago.
I remember it taking nearly an hour to find score updates
Teletext was so shit

>You will never play Bamboozled again
>>82218443

>>82217896
nearly all tvs had it through the 90s up until they stopped terrestrial signals
kinda like a BBS system without being able to post
>tfw coming home early in the morning and teletext is on with that comfy music
>>82218580
>music
What? Teletext never had music
>>82218618
Millenial trying to fit in
>>82218640
No? At least in Poland teletext had no music.
>>82218618
>younger millenials calling millenials millenials
some channels that didn't have shows running 24/7 would just put teletext on screen in the early hours slowly flipping through the pages with music in the background.
>>82218640
you are remembering bbc2
It was just a teletext screen being broad-cast when they were not showing anything

>>82215431
I used to read teletext game reviews.
Looking back on it's a really strange thing, who the fuck was writing and updating teletext pages?
>>82219080
Teletext employed a couple of guys in the Teletext offices for the different sections like music and film
The music pages were pretty kino
>>82215452
>Ceefax
That really takes me back, also when you were told to hit record on your VHS when shows like 'how' would flash some information on screen

Infotainmentkino
If Teletext is kino, are test cards kino as well?
kino is literally a reddit meme
>>82217543
Here in Italy is still on, people use it mostly for football scores, weather reports and movie theaters. Some people like my brother are totally gay about it.
I haven't been using it for years... It reminds me of my grandma
>>82216029
Sick graphic
last time I checked they had upgraded the local one here in Ireland to a more digital/flashy one but it was crap and every page took over a minute to load, if it loaded at all. that was a few yrs ago though so they might have scrapped it altogether since. don't watch terrestrial TV anymore so idk what its status is
I still check the local headlines on the online version though just out of habit. I kind of like the brief text-only aspect 2bh
>>82219264

It was very useful for showing scores in football in different leagues at one time,
You could easily follow Spanish, Italian, German and English leagues and gamble like crazy.
Good times idd

still reckon it was a stitch up but it does make me wonder how he was allowed to work with kids for so long
