Remember when Superhero movies tried?
WHAT ABOUT ARTHURIAN KINO
RAIMI
Superhero movies used to be about inspiring the white viewership to improve themselves and conduct genocide against non-whites.
Now they're simple popcorn flicks.
idk if its nostalgia but I loved the first two spidermen
I still remember being a kid in theaters watching the Twin Towers preview and getting hyped

So post an example.

Back in the early 70s-00s studios tended to hire visionary directors to helm their superhero films. Richard Donner, Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, Bryan Singer, Ang Lee, Guillermo del Toro and Christopher Nolan were all picked because they had all made good films that had style and vision. Cinematic Universe bullshit has completely fucked all of this up. Now the studios want yes-men who will happily make generic schlock that conforms to the vision of some talentless producer.

Civil War "tried" if you just look at the first and third acts.
The middle section with the airport battle feels out of place and drags it down a bit, but the rest is great.

It's not just nostalgia. There has not been a good super hero movie since spider man 2. Spider Man 2 actually gets what it means to be a hero. It actually elaborates on that and shows us the sacrifice it takes to do thankless work. It's about overcoming your inner conflict. This is literally the Empire Strikes Back of capeshit.
