Yeah it's kinda pathetic how we actually do have plenty of funny women around, but they never get roles like this.

I've seen some gut busting stand up comics that were women even.

Yet instead of getting some comedians for this Ghostbusters remake, they got some women that are better known for doing some dramas. Melissa McCarthy was the biggest and biggest named comic in the movie and she's only really done well with fairly small comedies aimed at a niche audience.

Women are funny /tv/. Get over it.
>>
>>82188111
Melissa McCarthy is really pretty decent as a comedic actress.

It's easy enough for me to see how Ghostbusters could've been dramatically better had they tried using some of their talent a bit better, but it seemed like they were too stuck on the idea of shoving in just anyone they thought was popular rather than those that could work well together.

The two skinny white women mostly have done comedy that involves funny things happening around them rather than making with the jokes themselves, so they just dragged down this movie a huge deal on their own.

>>82188088
They tried remaking a great movie and only made something mediocre. This was not a difficult movie to succeed with and if they had done well with it then they'd have an entire cinematic universe to play with.
>>
It's actually not that bad of a movie. You guys just hate it because women "ruined" your beloved series.

Those movies atleast felt natrual because they aren't based on a well loved IP. The entire Ghostbusters controversy was just trying to make a bad idea look good. Paul Fieg was not the right choice at all.

Spy ok, but it felt like something made for my math teacher. I don't know if I want to recommended to my own mom. I saw some bits of Heat, and it looked like a simple buddy cop parody. Also Kaitlin Olson plays a latino women or something, and I can't tell if its ironicly bad or suppose to be good. Can't not think of Dee in that scene.

>>
>>82188353

It is though. The original only really worked because of the chemistry. They took a heavily cast driven movie, swapped out the cast, and thought it would turn out fine.

This. 30 Rock was a great show because it was made by feminists who knew better than to let politics spoil their fun.

Kate Mckinnon gave me a few chuckles, but she was the only one.

UKS's first season is great too, but she does let it get bogged down in politics a bit too much in the second season. It's looking like season 3 is going to be focussed on Titus, so I'm hoping she's steering it back towards season 1's quality.
>>
I didn't pay attention to the controversy, but what came first: asspained fanboys of the original that shat all over news of the remake or shills for this film that tried to shame anyone who wanted to avoid watching it? Was it simultaneous? Or was one exaggerated while the other was indeed legit?
>>
>>82187459
I'm a fan of Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Kaitlin Olson. I would have gone to see the movie if all three of them plus Amy Poehler was in it.

You can pick and choose the metrics you want since it's all fuzzy math to begin with. The budgets are always understated too since they don't include ad campaigns - before this movie came out, director Paul Feig was claiming that it really needed to break $500 million to start turning a profit.

I read that and I think that's bullshit, otherwise you wouldn't constantly see the number $50 and $75 million provided by "sources" as to how much Sony was likely to lose as a result of the poor box office revenues for Ghostbusters.
>>
>>82192106

Oh nevermind, that's Tina Kay
>>
>>82192453
Eh, that actually almost checks out. If they grossed $229 million global but that was only enough to recoup half the production budget because of how the money gets doled out, it really would need to pass near $500 million before their cut reaches profitability.

>at the end of day 8 the women are sent to live in the men's camp and the "battle of the sexes" ends, declared as a draw
That seems to be the outcome in most of those reality show scenarios. Either some guys are swapped with some of the women to balance it out, or they end it for the women's safety, and declare it a draw, because it had to be ended early, despite the men dominating up until that point. Really makes you think.

That wasn't all, after they mix the groups together. The women started to manipulated the guy and voted them all off and one chick won in the end

not really. maybe on the internet with a bunch of 25 year old memesters like yourself, but I dont know anyone who thinks the original ghostbusters was that great.

I also dont know anyone who says they like star wars. thats another franchise that gets rammed down our throats, people just keep repeating that its a good series.

You're saying you don't know anyone that likes star wars when they're repeating the fact they like star wars.

Nah. I've literally never met a real person in my life who shit on Ghostbusters or OT star wars.

they just cant do comedy
>>
>>82189328
Joan Rivers was funny. Wanda Sykes used to be funny. Anybody can be funny, what happens is it's usually men who experience bad shit in their lives and use their experiences as comedy. Women in general get appealed to up the ass and so they usually don't resort to comedy. Amy Schumer looks like a real-life Mrs. Piggy (she used to be funnier, now she just phones it in or doesn't work as hard), Tina Fey was an outcast nerd, Kristen Wigg looks like she was awkward from birth to maybe 35.

Also, not many women are willing to poke fun at themselves. There's a shitload of fat comics who regularly get laughs by doing fat jokes, poor people make fun of that, etc.

>I want to meet my favourite ghostbuster

>can’t wait to meet Bill Murray
>"We managed to get all four of them to come anon, isn’t that great?"
>4? But Harold Ramis is dead.
>The door opens and I hear shrill laughter and mumbled ebonics
>Four women shamble in to the room wearing cheap cosplay outfits.
>The largest, a barely human looking sheboon swaggers over to me looking like she thinks she’s made my day
>"Who ya gun call lil guy?"
>The rest of them roar with laughter
>I hear a voice screaming “Ay gurls, lemme holla at ya”
>A strange negro runs in to my room and starts whooping.
>The 4 women begin to whoop along with him and chant “PHOTO OP, PHOTO OP”
>A camera flashes as I drift in to the abyss

>have you ever found something a girl in real life says funny?

Yes. There are funny girls. But fewer. And they're less funny than the funny guys.

It's the same pattern over and over. Men have bigger extremes, more geniuses and more abject retards.

I don't get why we have to act like it's a revelation every time, or that it says something bad about women.

absolutely. trick is you have to hang out with girls.

so what you're basically saying is that you want to fuck men.

Through the entire movie's runtime, there were only two funny moments. When the gorilla walks into a room of mannequins and turns and walks out, and when the ghost is right above her and she decides right there and then to quit and go home.

A two hour comedy movie with only two jokes in it.

This is, as others have pointed out, usually a function of wanting to fuck them.

You're vastly more inclined to laugh at silly crap when you're a little turned on.
>>
>>82188681
This sucked too.
>>
>>82190909
....so they went to see dying kids to remind them that when they die, their spirits will be in a terrible reboot?
>>
>>82199088
There is literally a 30 Rock episode where they talk about the "are women funny" topic, in a really smart and funny way. In a half hour. Man, what a great show, if only all women were that funnt.
>>
>>82195840
The only subversion to this is on Hell's Kitchen. The women don't suffer from the type A shit the men do and tend to do better as a whole. At first I thought it was cause Ramsey was trying to get laid (one of the male chefs even calls him out about this when he kept letting some mediocre chick escape elimination) but he's let unattractive women win before. Except when there's a crazy black woman on the team, then it all goes to hell.

Yes, but only because they were little old women I didn't expect to say what they said. As always, unintentionally funny women.

I think Joan was only a little funny because she complains at a rate much higher than most Jews at a dinner table. Reminds me of my aunt. Tina Fey is movie funny when she has good co-writers helping to carry all her 80s references, so I'm honestly not even sure I wanna count her. Amy Poehler (spelling?) isn't funny, she's a coattail rider. I'm assuming "Don't Trust the B- in Apartment 23" had a lot of female writers, and it consistently has -at the very least- one genuinely funny joke an episode. So whoever wrote for that has gotta be a funny woman. Rosanne is also pretty funny on twitter.
