AS2 didn't really earn as much as expected, and got pretty mixed reviews. It was supposed to be the beginning of a huge Spiderman franchise for Sony and it didn't really perform like it should've.

kek, the second movie dropped 61% from first week to second when it's only major competition was Neighbors

budget was like 250 million and it didnt even make that back in US/Canada

you can't go by worldwide box office because studios get a way smaller cut of that

with production and marketing it looks like it massively underperformed for them
