no I didn't, but that is on JJ because he didn't know what he wanted...he should have focused more on the kids and their friendships, instead of that half baked 'alien', there was some really great acting which is rare for kids

I'm planning to do a youtube video about the Super eight but I don't have the charisma. But I still want to do it. First it's ET, then it's Close Encounters, then it's Jaws, and then at a point, It's Jurassic Park. Does this movie know what it wants to be?

I honestly think it's one of his best. The Star Trek movies are so over-the-top, but at the same time take themselves very seriously, which is extremely off-putting for me. Super 8 just didn't feel that way, it felt much more realistic and believable.

I don't know, the last time I watched it what really stuck to me was how annoying some aspects of the child characters were, mostly the kid with the braces and the fat one, not sure if I can bring myself to watching it again since I can vividly remember the cool parts like the train crash.

J.J.'s a technical director. Spielberg and Lucas are Story Tellers. And that's why J.J.'s the force awakens is so much trash. And that is why Super Eight can never be a classic.

Alright but it has all the classic J.J unnecessary cruelty when it comes to death. Like yeah the kids mom was killed on the job, but did she need to be crushed by pile of giant steel beams? The whole thing was the guy who did it was a screw up and accidentally kills her. I always feel like he goes further than he needs to and just has some obsession with being brutal. Like Trek 09, did he need to have all of Vulcan destroyed along with the majority of its population? Not really as its affects pretty much never get brought up again, not even in Into Darkness. They just act like it never happened and this is just some stand alone Trek movie but it really isn't as the everything that leads up to why Khan did his attack was a direct result from Nero's attack on the Federation.
