The original Roseanne came out when the "dysfunctional family shows" were new and interesting. It debuted a little after Married... With Children and a little before The Simpsons. If it were released now, I don't think too many people would notice it. If they actually do a reboot, I imagine a lot of people will watch the first episode and then interest will wane from there.

Nah, the last season was Roseanne just doing whatever the fuck she wanted because she could and it was the last season, plus I suspect some of it was to grab attention for ratings so that the show didn't end with nobody watching it.

Roseanne actually fired most of her writing staff at the end of the first season, and then brought on a bunch of new writers (including Joss Whedon) and told them that, if any of them went to the tabloids and ran their mouths, they'd be fired, too. The series went through a ton of writers as Roseanne was prone to firing them.
