There was an anon on here who did an ama claiming he worked for adult swim and I asked him about it. He said the new episodes didn't get much higher ratings than the re-runs, they figured they had enough episodes that they could just run re-runs and didn't see the need to pay for more.

Fucking sucks I loved this show

Well, arguably, those shows made adultswim the popular programming block it is today, so I don't think there's anything wrong with reminiscing about them. Family Guy and Rick & Morty sucks.

much as i loved the show, it had a run of 15 years. hard for me to get upset that it ended.

The execs decided to end it because it finally hit enough episodes for syndication/perpetual reruns (150 or so). It had also trailed off a bit in quality in the last few years. It was time, though. I never expected the show to end with such dignity.

Maybe they can still do the occasional reunion special.

It was a really weird shtick that was funny.... for a bit. But funny because of a stupid gimmick doesn't remain funny for long, nor does it have much replay value.

Some of the old episodes that focused on Carl or the Mooninites were pretty good.... but lets be real, even from the beginning this show was more hit then miss.

But there were some episodes that were comparable to South Park quality funny, when it was at it's best (but not as clever as South Park, without any relevant social commentary).

And any media that thrives on a gimmick pretty much has a shelf life of about 5 years top to still seem fresh.

It's the Die Antwoord of comedy cartoons. Gimmicky as hell but can be amusing in short bursts..... but it's outlived its welcome.

It should also be noted that it was pretty much the grandfather of the super random cartoon network comedy cartoons..... before that no show was really just throwing a bunch of random shit together with no regard to consistency or any cohesive plot.

Venture Bros. were putting out 13 episodes every 2 years. Pilot was 2003, season 1 was 2004, season 2 2006, season 3 2008.
season 4 was split into two batches of 8 like South Park does, 2009-2010.
then they took 3 years (switching animation studios) for 8 episodes and a halloween special the year before. then another 3 years for 8 more episodes and one 45 minute special that came out earlier.

The show will be on for 20 years before they finish.
