read up on the french new wave and the influence it had on the whole new hollywood movement, then you'll appreciate it. it's dennis hopper basically improvising with a pissed off studio and a crew of mostly amateurs. the editing is hypnotic and if you dig the gritty look films had in the 60s-70s you'll probably like it.
