i rewatched it recently and thought it held up pretty well

the movie is ok for what it is - a really long episode of the show thats meant to wrap things up

If you liked this, check out IZombie. Same guy behind it, same case of the week with ongoing character arcs and plots style, same sense of humor. They even have Kristen Bell's voice cameo for an episode so she can do her old voice over monologue thing for an episode.

the first season was excellent but it declined pretty steadily after that. did not bother with the movie but glad it got made for the fanservice

I watched iZombie first actually, that's how I got interested in Veronica Mars. I thought the drama was gonna be worse since it's set in a high school, but it's actually better than iZombie's drama which is pretty hokey and easily the worst part of the show. The male characters is Veronica Mars are way better too.
They both have the same issue of cramming too many plots/connections between few characters though, although that eased up after the first season of VM.

It looks like it would be trash for kiddies, but it's well executed and much better than you'd think it would be. It's all about Veronica, her Dad, and Logan. They really make the show.

Eh. It's mainly a nostalgia vehicle. I mean, it's not terrible or anything, but it doesn't stand up on it's own. It's more about getting back in touch will all the characters you remember from the show.

I thought so, but I've talked to people who felt differently. I think it mostly comes down to how you view the mystery arcs. I never really felt like they held together that well, and so for me, they just serve as a basis for other drama, but if you're invested in them, then maybe the show loses some of its appeal after you know how things turn out (or maybe you're invested in them but disappointed when they aren't better executed, which sours you on the show).

Duncan was sort of okay as an alienated, distant guy, but the actor couldn't pull off a happy relationship for the life of him, so I'd put him way at the bottom.

One thing that really fucking got to me in the show, really made me thingk as it were, was the whole Veronica being raped sub-plot. I think it was the first time I'd seen it done well.
