I think the parts of Logan that were less than stellar (and there were very few which is saying something for the current Marvel line up) where the aesthetic choices. They made her mute to give her first lines impact, but it just doesn't make sense otherwise. They've got the Wolverine doing limo service as if someone isn't going to recognize the fucking superhero sitting in the front seat, yet that plays out ok until it doesn't. Then we have a major thematic element through the western, Shane, which has the most important scene in the movie coming off as hokey and campy at best, borderline hilarious at worst. The best parts of Laura are when she's doing snotty shit because she doesn't care, like wheeling around in Xavier's wheelchair in sunglasses or opening a can of beer in a convenient store. Tonally, the movie feels like it's splitting itself in two trying to be two things. Is it a drama about a man trying to save his estranged daughter, a la Taken? Or is it a Marvel buddy comedy about Wolverine trying to understand a snarky ass kid?
