don't try to make sense of it, because you won't. It's an enjoyable film but hardly a masterpiece, and it most certainly don't carry some big hidden meaning or message. You can't "solve" it.

Why do people always get obsessed with trying to form some kind of narrative in surrealist/experimental films? They're always unsatisfying.

Inland Empire is better because it's more impenetrable and longer so it becomes easier to surrender to the atmosphere instead of trying to crack the meaning. And the atmosphere is scarier.
