Nobody gives a shit if you leave your lights on for the night, that's feel good propaganda to make people feel like they are contributing to something. You can't make a difference on a personal level, because you are not causing anything on a personal level.

Industrial level is a different case. It's not just carbon emissions, there is all sort of excessive pollution going on in industry heavy sections and it causes issues on a micro level. The whole carbon tax bullshit is on the table because they want to make the common people pay for dealing with that rather than the corporations. The idea is that if a corporation is causing too much emission, that's because they are doing work to produce what the customers demand. Boycott them so they back down on the tax bullshit.
