quite the contrary actually, i think the film does a pretty decent job of humanizing them, as opposed to something like american history x that was super juvenile in the way it made the racists into antagonistic caricatures.

whatever your politics are, you can't say that the film didn't make the characters relatable. even someone who's die-hard left wing should be able to empathize with some of the skin characters in the movie. i don't think the movie is even all that political, i think the main message is that hate is a burden, regardless of politics. at some point you have to let it go and grow up and become a man. it's not really about race, it's about the love between davey and the girl.
