Explain Michael Snow to me, please. I like a lot of experimental movies but not his. Wavelength and it's beeeeeeeep annoy me to no end and I just don't get La Region Centrale.
Ok you start

There's nothing to explain, it's just another vacuous film experiment. They are made all the time in film schools.

Can I jump right into this or is there other experimental film I should watch first to wet my appetite? Gonna watch l'ange and deux foines tonight which I think will be a good warmup

I'd wager it's a mistake most people under 30 would make by default these days.

wavelength isn't a vacuos film, it's just another type of storytelling, I think it's very interesting
And La Region Centrale only works if you watch it on film.

>La Region Centrale only works if you watch it on film.

What about literal flicks?

I watched this on my laptop and 2x speed and it worked just fine for me. I found the experience enthralling, always on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Unfortunately it never went the extra mile, there were a couple of surprises here and there but not enough for me to consider it one of the best films ever made, still really interesting.
Apparently when Snow screened it in the theater the seats were divided by black screeners so the viewers would be paralyzed and only be able to watch straight up to the screen, so anyway if you haven't watched it as it was originally intended to you haven't watch it 'the right way' either
