No that's not the point at all. Everybody was right to act the way they did. Pedos can't be tolerated. The point of the movie was the emotional trapping of being innocent but being understandably persecuted. The pain he felt was the pain you might feel if you accidently fell off a tall building. It's nobody's fault, it's just pure misfortune, you might be angry but there's nobody to blame. All there is is fear, frustration, and confusion.

I forget the name of the older female teacher who kicked the whole witch-hunt off, but the movie made something clear - every time she repeated the little girl's story, she'd added a few new details herself, from her own imagination. The whole situation probably wouldn't have blown up like it did if she had stuck to the facts.

It wasn't just about the hatred these characters had for pedos, there was another side to it - they LOVE drama. They get a whiff of a high-stakes "unthinkable" situation, and they all want to find a way to involve themselves in it.
