The show is pretty good as a depiction of the mindset of the current teenage high school student: pretty much hyper-aware of their feelings, nothing can be outright fun, no matter what you do someone else is being stepped on in the process: parents are well meaning but teenagers think they're too smart to listen despite parents showing them kindness and understanding.

The main lesson I got from this is girls can't handle objective reasoning, critical thinking or self-evaluation unless someone (cough, cough, a guy) validates them into doing it.

When I found out that Clay's reason for being on the tape was for not being rapey, and generally being a good guy, I fucking laughed and resigned myself to knowing the show's values are fucked beyond belief.

Looking forward to season 2.

The one interesting thing the show attempted was Jason's catch 22.
