Why specify the Mongol episode versus every single episode where the encounter an ancient human or alien species that speaks perfect English?
The English of the 1990s wasn't even recognizable until around the 1500s, so it's a major plothole of the series (I'd argue the biggest one of all), and you have to more or less accept it within your willing suspension of disbelief, like how Star Trek's universal translators somehow change mouth movements and work on uncontacted species.

Some dubious attempts at canon explanations I've seen are they they do indeed have some kind of secret military 'universal translator' technology, or that the Goa'uld forced all their subjects to speak English at some point for convenience sake.

Also worth noting that they lampshade it in 'Wormhole X-Treme' by having the writers handwave some logical error by saying "it's no worse than all the aliens speaking english"
The same episode also lampshades how 'out of phase' people can walk through walls but don't fall through the floor.

I have only just started watching SG-1 and I had hoped this was just a minor inconsistency which was in the mongol episode alone, the inhabitants of the first planet could have learned English I suppose but the mongols? What were they thinking? Why was SG-1 even allowed to continue on for 10 seasons and 2 more shows for 350 episodes?

How did they even take the mongols as slaves considering the gate was demolished in eygpt? Unless there are gates all over earth and they are leaving that for future episodes
