The rave was one of the best scenes of the episode. It's one of the reasons why I loved this series as a child.
It felt good to be one with my younger self once again.

people seem to forget that

1. this is a <30 minute show with 8 episodes and not a lot of time to fuck around
2. SJ never had a plot in the first four seasons of the show. every episode was more or less self contained in which "jack searches for a time portal" with the occasional side-quest episode. plot was added this season for the sole purpose of putting an end to the series. the cameos in this season aren't for MUH NOSTALGIA, they're for adding some form of cohesiveness to jack's adventure. they obviously made the mistake of not doing this in earlier seasons, as now they have only 8 episodes to nail everything together.
3. SJ was a fucking kids show, and it pretty much still is. it was never serious nor was it meant to be taken seriously. you're watching a show you used to watch with kid/teen eyes through your adult eyes. stop acting like SJ is supposed to be "epic" or "deep"

if the entire 10 episode run was the feel of the first 3 episodes, the essence of Samurai Jack would be lost and you would probably get bored 6 episodes in

the "Fallen Samurai on the run, assassins chasing after you" shtick only works in small doses.

Also, Genndy is using season 5 to "advertise" HIS TALENT for future projects. That's why every episode of this series is a different genre, he's showing his talent to adapt ANY cartoon format.

Genndy's going to be a very popular contractee after this series ends.

I never said it's bad. it's just messy. They're summarising Jack's story through Ashi in this episode while also further developing her turn to the good side. Honestly I wouldn't know a better way to tell the story for this episode.

Separating the two is just a waste of time and Ashi will be "complete" before the story ends. This might draw you away from the character because she is actually quite the shallow character. She almost has nothing to her backstory.

The accent was there and his hat looks closer to a Russian/Siberian beaver hat than anything else.

The horseman thing was pretty weak. I was hoping for something more along the lines of:

This scene made me think /tv/

The latests show started off at a 4.5 and ended on a 6.5.

The nostalgia tripping seemed kind of lame, but it in retrospect, it was important for Ashi's development and finally following Jack rather than Aku.

The random forest rave was turbo-cringe, way too muh time was spent on it.

Good to see Scaramouche back, since he's really the only sub-villain introduced.
