Why didn't superman just throw the spear at doomsday?

DVD commentary says he was too weak from the kryptonite to throw it with enough force and accuracy to pierce Doomsday. But putting his full body weight and flight momentum behind it was enough

why didnt he just give it to wonder woman?
Seems like she was handling Doomsday just fine

Does Superman have Super Weight or something? He's got enough strength to fly at the fucker, he's really only adding his bodyweight to the spear by ramming it in personally instead of just letting go of it mid-flight or actually throwing it.

Why did he even push the spear through him anyway? He could've just left the Kryptonite inside him and it would killed Doomsday faster
