This. The fucking flute in the end.

Alternatively, that episode from Stargate where O'Neill is trapped on a planet for months due to meteorshowers. Only when he starts accepting his fate and settles down with hot milf does the rest of SG1 come back to rescue him. Similar theme I guess but pulled my heart strings. It would have been fine for me if he just stayed there and the series ended or they went along without him.
>>
>>81869783
Would have been better to go out that way than the rest of the series/shows.
>>
>>81867079
Wtf where do you think you are, Reddit? Click is pure kino.
>>
>>81869808
Probably true. But the pleb in me just wants more Stargate.
I like the Anubis ark with its more mystical themes but bringing back Daniel twice was lame. Corin Nemec was okay, a bit boring. I would have even liked the Ori ark if not for Vala and Mitchell and the terrible in jokes.

Somebody said it right: a show shouldn't exceed 100 episodes. After that the best ideas are gone and everyone's just too familiar.
>>
>>81869945
The Ori arc was entirely based around fanservice for Farscape people and that's kind of okay in its own way. SG1 was very good at never taking itself seriously, it's just a shame they had to do a minimum of stuff to keep up the formula.
>>
>>81869929
>>81867079
Is this some fucking meme I've been misinformed on for years? Why is Click given a pass? It's complete garbage

The ending is an actual factual one-two-combo of product placement and "it was all a dream"
>>
>>81870054
It wasn't a dream though, Morty leaves the remote for him at the end.
>>
>>81870207

Charlie has been told that he's fated to die. He basically goes through the 5 stages of grief and almost makes it out, and even the viewers think he's safe but then he isn't. And he dies, and contrary to his character instead of freaking out and being only marginally helpful he gets his shit together, realizes he's dead and does the most he can to help his friends before he drowns.

Also he grew up as a catholic and slipped into drug abuse and became a generally bad person but redeemed himself before he died and prays with his last breath which is a good character arc.

Honestly just watch the show

Rectify was honestly one of the best shows I've watched. Its so fucking slow but every character is so well thought out and relateable by the end that you love it

I guess enough painkillers can make even the worst kind of hurt go away. The thing you need to know is that Mara was innocent and Jackson was innocent. They didn't know what they were drinking and their last moments together were happy ones. They left the way I first found them, perfect and innocent. They were innocent and they're in heaven now and we'll always be a family. The guilty ones are me and Vic. Vic led, but I kept following. I don't think one's worse than the other, but we made each other into something worse than our individual selves. I wish I'd never met him. I see it all now. There's no apologies I can make, no explanations I can give, I was who I was and I can't be that person any more. I can't let myself

couldnt feel sad for a guy who had this much and just couldnt find some happiness in it.

I mean i have way less and i dont beat myself up over it.

Also why does Kaufman hate lesbians?
>>
>>81875820
>couldnt feel sad for a guy who had this much and just couldnt find some happiness in it.

I mean, that's part of the tragedy, being so fixated on finding true happiness and meaning in your life that you don't see the good things you have and let it all go to waste

And I don't know. In Being John Malkovich he also showed a dislike towards them, but it's never really made clear where it comes from. He does seem to equate a meaningful life with sharing it with a loved one in many of his films, so maybe he uses lesbians as a threat towards that because he is hetero himself.

This episode of law and order criminal intent, prepare for Victor Hugo tier feels and tears. Mise en scene:
>troubled girl takes part in beating a black kid and he turns into a vegetable
>she runs away, changes identity, becomes a nun after rock bottom
>devotes life to performing good works for over a decade
>girls nun mentor sends the girls mom a letter telling her about daughter turning life around
>vegetable guys little brother becomes doctor, devotes life to taking care of his brother

No. He thought he had to die for Claire to get on the helicopter, and he knew he was going to die, so he chose to make it easier on both Desmond and himself
>>
>>81876309
This was the worst thing about S5/S6.

We are supposed to hate Locke for bringing them back to the island, but Locke is the best character and the one we relate with most.

Jack turns from a man of science and a leader to a coward shell of a man who follows blindly. The same thing happened with the MIB; we are supposed to hate him for being "evil", but Jacob was much more evil than MIB. The MIB just wanted to leave, but they keep him there for no reason. MIB was better than Jack throughout the entire last season.

Fuck the writers for ruining a potentially great show
>>
>>81870589

I loathed Shane for the longest time for his general stupidity but my heart broke watching him trying to butt heads with Vic over those public phone calls in the end and just him floundering and melting down when Vic told him his list of their misdeeds was no longer a viable weapon.

That final letter of his was fucking painful too. Something along the lines of:
>Vic led but I followed, I don't know that one is worse than the other but I know that we made each other into something much worse than if we acted alone

I went into the show looking specifically for brutality and already being foretold that it's one of the most devastating finales ever but I still felt like I had my shit totally pushed in

In the directors cut there is a totally different scene from the theatrical cut where her beta German husband gets shot in the stomach by her old comrades and dies.

In the extended directors cut he is standing in the bottom of this giant barrel like container and they fill it up with water until he drowns.

But what's really sad is the whole time he is looking up at his wife who is just standing there smirking coldly watching him die. He doesn't know that his wife is is a super spy and she is trying not to blow her cover or she will be killed too.
>>
>>81863918
Hold he door.

It's mainstream-ness will undoubtedly trigger the autists though.
>>
>>81880592
The mainstream-ness doesn't trigger me, but the shitty forced way they made it happen does. The fucking jihadi tree-person was retarded.

If the scene happens in the books I'm sure it'll work a whole lot better and be a whole lot more engaging, except it'll be lessened by the show having done it first.
>>
>>81880547

The husband has no idea what's going on and the whole time the water is filling up he just has this sad look in his eyes that says "Why?" as she's looking down on him with pleasure and not and ounce of regret. ...Shits fucked up man.

Well you obviously don't know anything about science fiction then, try and name me some good science fiction films that aren't about humans.
From 2001 to Solaris Blade Runner to Moon it has always been about the humans, what it means to be human, how we deal with the universe.

I recommend The Seeds of Time if you want to look into the roots of sci-fi.

What makes Interstellar pop-sci-fi isn't the human element of it, it's the saccharin romanticised fantasy of it.

AKA the human element. Everything else you described is Science-Fiction, because all those things are in reaction to the fantastical, technological based settings of the stories and those experiences cannot be divorced from the settings. Not to mention all of those previous stories are guess what? About solitary individuals.

But power of love bullshit can happen anywhere. And it has no place in science fiction.

Science-Fiction asking the question what is a human or what it means to be a human is fine. Good Sci-Fi should ask questions. Science-Fiction that says the answers said questions with It's love, or friendship or family or whatever is shit for retards and should stay in another section, of Human-Fiction.

Wat? Some of those movies are complete opposites from human. Blade Runner's theme can be summed up with "slavery is bad lmao" and 2001 and Interstellar are sterile in their lack of human interaction. I've noticed it get memed, but the line where Cat Woman says her love counts for something is the most human line of the movie. You sound like an autistic nerd loser, instead of utilizing the setting of science fiction and elements of things unavailable in traditional story telling to explore "what is a human or what it means to be a human". You'd rather obsess over minor scientific details like an autist
>Science-Fiction that says the answers said questions with It's love, or friendship or family or whatever is shit for retards and should stay in another section, of Human-Fiction.
AUTIST

You probably have such a limited understanding of the human experience, you think you are so above the people who deride because of a perceived understanding of the "science" in "sci-fi".
>>
>>81891214
>Blade Runner's theme can be summed up with "slavery is bad lmao"
No... it can't.
>2001 and Interstellar are sterile in their lack of human interaction
2001 is all about how as a human Bowman deals with an alien presence, it's not an empty space ship moving in space.

>I've noticed it get memed, but the line where Cat Woman says her love counts for something is the most human line of the movie.
but it's badly (or too well) delivered and it doesn't resonate with the human experience, it's a lie not a truth, humans don't act like that, science-fiction captures what it means to be human in those settings. Putting a human in a different setting is how sci-fi highlights what it means to be us, what tangles us all together, what makes us human.

>The rest is like an autistic adherence to the rules of science at the expense of the human elements of story telling.

What does that change? Really I think that makes it more potent. We connect with them, we have empathy for them, their experiences mean something to us.

>power of love bullshit
power of love bullshit is bullshit I'm not defending it, when you use a card like that you're undermine the connection you have, real people can't magic away to bad things with love.

>should stay in another section, of Human-Fiction.
Why is love such a bad concept? Plenty of great sci-fi films and books have characters that grasp onto each other in this void of existence. In Blade Runner they know they wont live but they can at least love each other. What's wrong with that? That is inherently sci-fi. A.I.s we made in our image falling in love. Why wouldn't they?
>>
>>81891240
Did they not later then find out Peter has to exist for there to be any machine in the first place though?
>>
>>81891591
AI falling in love is illogical and ridiculous.

All science fiction recently is depending on this power of love shit and that it can topple anything standing in your way or being a threat or that humans don't understand. And it has got to go. And it happens with endings mostly, it's the copout ending that every big sci-fi show goes with. Which is why television and film writers should not do sci-fi.

Just you wait, the same shit is going to happen with The Expanse.
>>
>>81891624
I don't think the writing around this was particularly planned out or good but there was enough smoke around it that for all we know there is a scientific explanation of why things happened, frankly the god episode they dropped from one series is far more against the show's themes.
Sacrifice was always a central theme for Fringe though, I really liked S4 and S5, not many shows give you the why.

Allie Sin.

We could have saved her. She's the definition of dead inside porn star.

This is the only film that has ever made me cry, and they were tears of absolute and impotent rage. It was also the movie that turned me into an anti-feminist and a right-winger later on.

On paper the 'And it's a beautiful day...' scene from Fargo sounds ridiculously corny, and yet something about Frances McDormand's performance makes my tear up every damn time.

I remember this scene of her, she is getting pissed on by a bunch of other women, and one of the other girls did something to her, can't remember what and she got incredibly angry and stormed off the porn set. It wasn't like an outtake either, it was just part of the video.

hey it's true, right winger misogynists really are railing against a fiction and not actual reality.
>>
>>81893537
How is it fiction?

Or do you really think the judiciary system isn't heavily in favour of women?
>>
>>81893593
oh it's as fudged as making of a murderer, when you single out something small and make it out as a general reality then your perception of the world is warped. You have to look at the big picture.

What do you mean by biased? Is it biased against black people too? Or just specifically against your clan.
>>
>>81893716
Not him but stop
The judiciary system is blatantly biased towards women, and if you ask me, against blacks to an extent.
>>
>>81893758
well I didn't ask you, but if you have some proof that it's biased towards women maybe you could provide the evidence.
I mean do you think men are jailed more because the cops just hate men?

Please elaborate on the themes of Blade Runner. "No... it can't" is hardly an argument.
>2001 is all about how as a human Bowman deals with an alien presence, it's not an empty space ship moving in space.
Tell me how it's not a sterile film. There is a single man interacting with a computer for the majority of the film. It's interesting, but please elaborate how this speaks to major human emotions.
>>
>>81893795
>I mean do you think men are jailed more because the cops just hate men?
Please stop, you're going to make me burst a blood vessel

Cops have nothing to do with the judiciary system, I am not commenting on them. I am talking about courts. And yes, here's some evidence

>elaborate on the themes of Blade Runner
I mean you could write a thesis but to keep it short it's more philosophical than slavery is bad.
we spent the film looking through the eyes of somebody who we think is human, to some extend we can empathise with their job, the replicants aren't human they're just machines so has been said. Roy makes his case that his experience is just as valid as any human's, he's seen and done things and felt things and lived. Then we find out deckard is a replicant and it's up to us to reconcile the events of the film. Do we say replicants are as human as we are? Or are we as much a machine as them? What is life? What makes us us? I could go into more detail about offshoots of those themes but that's the most important theme in my eyes. It's not what's good or bad it's asking us: what are we?
>>
>>81866294
also Extras and The Office christmas specials
>>
>>81893979
How do you think people end up before a judge? They have to be arrested and charged. If you want to lock up more of a specific minority you can concentrate your police on the areas they live.

So you think it's just judges who are biased? Do you have anything more recent and larger than this 2013 survey?
>>
>>81874021
That last scene with his daughter
>>
>>81894288
Cops are biased judges are biased everything is biased. The system is a fucking joke.

If a woman calls the police and claims a man has assaulted her, if the cops turn up and a man is there, he's arrested, even if there's no evidence. In the reverse situation, the woman is not.

And there's no such thing as an honest judge.
>>
>>81894288
Police wouldn't need to be concentrated around areas where minorities live if they didn't commit the majority of crimes despite being minorities.
>>
>>81894390
Well I can't speak for your system but here the police will make a judgement about the safety of the individuals, you're not going to leave a man that might beat up a woman with that woman, and you're not going to leave a woman that might stab a man with that man. Would you rather the man not be arrested if there's no evidence?

There is so much supposing in here, there is no definitive proof he's a replicant and that theory has been thrown out by Ford (I'm quite sure). The questions you ask are answered clearly in the film, Scott makes it clear that Rachel and Roy are "more human than human" compared to the inhuman predator that is Deckard. (who is ironically human). Making Deckard a replicant is contrary to everything established by Scott previously and is a silly twist, not in line with the book either. That itself isn't even a deep theme either it's very weak and can be summed up with "robot slavery is bad" because they are basically human. There is no nuance to it, and you are reading way to much into this film. Check out Prometheus for a better Ridley Scott sci-fi flick.

The director's cut makes it really obvious he's a replicant. You can't explain his implanted memories without that being true.

>contrary to everything established by Scott previously
how?
>not in line with the book either
so what, half the things in the film don't happen in the book
>can be summed up with "robot slavery is bad" because they are basically human
no it can't you didn't understand a word I said, it's not about slavery it's about asking what makes us us.
