The Sly/Arnie comparison is pretty solid. Like Arnie, The Rock comes from a background that is more about showmanship and physique, and making movies just seems to be the next stage of that career. I don't get the sense that Dwayne Johnson has a burning need to act.

Vin is definitely Stallone v2.0. He wants to act, and write, and direct. He's got things he feels compelled to say. Not always interesting or smart things, but there's a part of him that wants to be a scrappy blue collar dramatist, telling stories about the neighborhood.
