I love the show, but this one was just off. The magic, the whole town being effected by the magic and just going with it, that's Simpsons stuff. Then there was the b story that was half assed and sloppy for a b story. It also really reminded me of the witch episode Bobs Burgers did just a few weeks ago. It's like some disney kids show writer is selling the same storied to adult cartoons.

Yes. Seasons 1 (fuck you, I'm including it) to 9 (god tier episodes still) transcends the animated sitcom medium in becoming one of the top five television shows ever made of any genre, period.
The jokes are much more multi layered than those in American Dad. You're always discovering something new as you mature. American Dad is really funny at its best, but it's a lot simpler in structure and themes despite its "anything goes" premise. It also doesn't touch pre-cancelation Futurama, but it matches and even manages to surpass post-cancelation Futurama at times.
